i had 24 mths exactly between my two girls and got phil and teds. Been a great purchase, before dd2 was born i used it as a single for couple of months and used the second seat to hold my baskets at the shops and hold of my purchases at Christmas! dd1 now 3 1/2 and it was great to put the second seat in the basket as a deterent to stop her bolting! we dont use second seat now but she insists on sitting on the footwell! or standing on the bar at the back- it is so sturdy it takes some batterings! i've had three children in it at one point!( one on the foot well) We are now expecting no3 in Jan so will get used as a double again. If your oldest is challenging then it is a must so you can gain control and go about your day!

DS is 20 months and DD is 10 weeks tomorrow. We've got a Phil & Teds Sport which is really nice but tbh i'm not getting a lot of use out of it at the mo as a lot of the time when we go out we're going to one of DS's activity sessions like Tumble Tots or swimming so it's just a case of going from the car to the venue, so i've been using the chassis of my old Silver Cross pram to clip the car seat onto and DS has walked holding my hand. This has made me wonder whether i could have made do with just a buggy board but i think going around town or going for a walk around the village would be too much for him as he does still like going in a buggy. Hopefully if this weather improves we'll get more use out of it lol!

When i was looking at double buggies, i decided on a tandem as they looked a lot more manageable and practical than a side by side and the P&T is much like pushing a single.

With the benefit of hindsight I wasted £500 on a Phil and Ted's as for about 90% of the time I use a Moby Wrap for DD (5.5 months now) and Reins for DS (22 months tomorrow) - Total cost £41. The only time it has come in handy is when I've wanted them both to go to sleep at the same time and need to wander up to the village. If your toddler is unlikely to sleep in the buggy I would suggest a double is unnecessary unless you so a LOT of walking.

ive got ds 23 months and dd 3 weeks. we were sold a double by a friend very cheaply BUT im only planning to use it when we go for long walks in the countryside where we live. i wouldnt have bought one otherwise. i used it for the first time today when we went for a walk. the rest of the time im using a moby wrap for dd and ds goes in the pushchair if he gets tired. im trying to get him to walk as much as poss at the mo.

DD will be 25 motnhs when LO comes along and there is no way I am going without a double buggy.  As a previous poster said, you don't have to pay loads for them although I do like the Jane.  She may walk for a bit now but still gets so tired quickly that the buggy is a good place for her to chill.  Plus she thinks it is funny to run away at the moment.  My friends LO still has the buggy that they take out with them and she can get in when she is tired and she is just coming up to 3.

I'm dif, when ds will be 2 years and 3 months (ish), since we found out about lentil coming along we've been getting James to practice his walking, don't want to buy a double buggy...  He's been doing fine, unless he's tired then he can't be bothered...  Hoping that by the time Feb comes around he'll be even better...

Hiya, my son is 21 months and I'm due another bubs in 2 weeks. I have bought a double pram. Although DS likes to walk a lot he can get tired and has a tendency to grab things on shelves at the supermarket so he will go in the buggy at these times. I guess other times when he aint in the buggy i will fill his seat full of shopping, lol. TBH i couldnt NOT have a buggy atm. DS aint fully trained outside near roads etc, iyswim?

I am expectin our second in april when Ds will be just shy of 2 and half.  IMO - my DS is a good walker now and with the aid of a buggy board im confident that i wont regret not gettin a double.  They are so expensive and i just wouldnt get enough use out of it!  I have looked at doubles but for the money i just cant honestly say that i would get my monies worth!!!  Thats my opinion anyway.  If my DS was gonna be under 2 then i would defo get a double but before i know it he wont even want to be in a buggy, and for the first few months the buba will be in a sling anyway.x

ive got 16 months between my 2 so had to get a double (got the safety 1st, aprox £100-£130)...its a front and back and easy to get in most doors...DS1 happily walks anywhere, but there is no way i could go out myself with the single buggy and him on reins...he's still a bit uncontrollable lol (19 months)

i just went for a cheaper double as i know i wont be using it for that long...altho it may be needed for some longer walks at times

this is EXACTLY my dilema, there will be a 2 yr 2 month age gap - and i'm thinking of getting a jane powertwin or phil and teds as i do quite a bit of walking and i reckon that at 2 yrs 2 months my son will get quite tired plus not only that he needs controlling too - so easier to be in a buggy.  but they are expensive and seeing as we currently have a bugaboo chameleon - it seems really extravagant to go out and spend £500 on another buggy when its only going to be for a year - so i'm in  real dilemma! was thinking of getting a buggy board anyway but to be honest not sure how practical they are for longer walks etc - anyone got any advice or has 2 kiddies already with similar scenario? xx

my dd is nearly 22 months and her sister is due in 3 weeks! i bought a double buggy from ebay, i dont think i'll get that much out of it, dd likes to walk but does get tired after a while so will need to go in it for a while longer.

i have this dilemma too. my ds will be 2 years and 2 months when the new baby is born. i've been thinking about a phil and teds as at least that turns into a single buggy when you don't need a double. but i'm still not sure!

My ds was nearly 3 years old when I had dd.  I didnt have a double buggy, as ds was walking well and I think I would have struggled with a double buggy, as I struggle with a single buggy! lol. Seriously though I have seen quite a lot of parents having difficulty getting though doors when shopping.  But at the end of the day its down to personal choice.

    I have a questionloopylouwilliams

Just hypothetical at the moment but just starting to think about having a second child.  My daughter is 21 months now so would be at least 2 1/2 if a new baby came along. Would I need a double buggy? She's pretty good at walking and keen to get out and about but i see older children in buggies especially when shopping so I guess I'm really asking when do they stop using buggies? Sorry a bit long and rambling just trying to get my head straight!
