i certainly would not offer an alternative as this will lead you down a very slippery path, like the others say dont stress over it tell lo this is your meal eat up etc and leave it, if lo wont eat explain clearly that you will remove the food but he gets nothing else, kids go through these phases and even if not feeling too well i still wouldnt offer alternatives, they soon learn that come the nezt meal time they will eat up or get no other treats or snacks etc, sometimes kids can go the whole day not eating there food, but i can guarantee you by breakfast the next day lo will eat it all up

No i dont the best thing is to not make a fuss or to worry leave your lo be let them eat as much as they want if they dont eat anymore then try of cousre to get them to but dont worry if they dont.the more you try making them hte more chance you have in havinng a problem when it could just be she of her food for few days and will soon be back to normal

Hi just wanted to say my lo does this too. Mainly dur to teeth / colds etc. Its really hard as you just want them to eat. When he is like this I tend to give him whatever he will have just to tempt him. I have noticed that if I give him something he loves like crackers or yoguht he may go on and eat his sandwich, but if I give him the sandwich first he will probably just throw it on the floor. Good luck....and try not to worry.

dont worry about it hun, my dd goes thru stages where shell eat loads and then hardly anything,. kids wont starve hun but if u make a fuss over what their not eating they are more likely to get stressed and not bother eating x

I sympathise with this. My little boy (2 yrs on 7th Oct) isdriving me scatty at the moment and wouldn't eat any tea today! I didn't offer an alternative and i think my motherin law has now arrived and is trying to offer him his dinner again. Yet to see if he'll eat any. It's getting me down plus his screeming and screeching at present but that's another story.
Best of luck (may the mummy force be with you) x K.
