Thanks for the ideas. I do read him a story - maybe I need a longer one though

Hadn't thought about the lights. He has a winnie the pooh light show thing but that just excites him. Maybe I should look into night lights.

i bought kaytee some glow in the dark stars from elc £2.50 and she lays looking at them, also do u read lo a story?? might help tire him out a little and has he got a night light?? kaytee had a normal colour one and realised (after about a week) it was too bright so put her grobag egg next to her bed and because the light is coloured and not 2 bright its soothing, mood lights might also work? try some lavender bubble bath or lavender air fresheners?  hope this helps x

Hope your little girl keeps it up. I was actually going to post about this myself. My lo is on and off with his bed, sometimes he just gets in lies down and sleeps, other nights he won't let you leave the room and he's up following you and crying for you, other nights he won't even stay in the bed.

What am I supposed to do?

Well done Kaytee (sp?).  DD went into a bed a few months ago and the first night was crazy - up and down for a good couple of hours.  It took her about four nights to settle then she fell out about a week later.  She was doing really well and then we went on holiday for 2 weeks where she was in a cot again so had to start over when we got back but she settled a bit quicker this time and is back to falling to sleep pretty quickly and just talks to herself in bed now where she would get out and play before.  It's tough at first but they get there soon enough.

My dd has been in her big bed for a week now - she fell out of it for the first time last night! She started crying but we didn't hear a thud, went in there and she was just curled up on the floor next to her bed!

We did have a mattress down by her bed for a few days but she didn't like standing on it to get out of bed so I put it away and she's been fine - except for last night!
