Thanks.
I tried chocolate spread sandwiches for lunch today (not very healthy), cut them into bite size chunks and they were a sucess. So proud of him. May progress to cheese spread tomorrow. Will try lots of finger foods.

Like the pp suggested perhaps do finger food type meals?
For example:
Homemade meatloaf, burgers, fish fingers, fish cakes, rissoles, meatballs etc & then serve with different veg & potato (boiled, mashed or home-made chips or wedges).

Could it be because all the different textures are mixed, like, for example, in a casserole. What if you put everything seperately on his plate, carbs, veg, protein seperate?

How is he with feeding himself, can he do it or do you have to help? Thing with my dd was, until she was feeding herself, she wasn't keen on lumps, as if it came off a spoon from mummy she expected it to be smooth, but like yours was quite happy eating biscuits etc. She will now eat most things and loves chunks of chicken etc, and she's 20 months on Sunday.
Have you tried mixing in rice, or small bits of pasta for a bit more texture?

My lo is 20 months but won't eat lumps. All his food has to be put through a blender or he won't eat it. I have tried putting small lumps of carrots/potatoes in his casseroles but he just won't eat them. Does anyone have a similar problem? I have asked the hv but she just says to give him carrot sticks with meals. I have tried this but he is not interested.
He will eat buiscits, cake, crisps and chocolate so I know there is nothing wrong with him.

My ds loves anything at all bread-like - so you could also consider toasted crumpets, toasted muffins, malt loaf, crossiants, brioche rolls/loaf too for variety. He's not too keen on regular white bread though - much prefers brown with seeds.
Other "with meal" suggestions are dried fruits - raisins are very popular here - and cheese. We have cheese strings (processed cheese) and ds loves eating strips from the middle like spaghetti. A bit messy sometimes - but shreddies make good breakfast finger food - the squares are the right size.
If you were going to try from the other end - the little baby pasta stars are good for lumping up smooth pastes with something that *can* still be safely swallowed whole .... might just bridge the gap for you.
