Hi gals, just wanted to say thank you for replying to my post. My ds was poorly all weekend - really lethargic which is not like him and with a high temp. On Sunday night his top lip and hands turned blue and he had a small convulsion so took him to the emergency docs and then to hospital yesterday. By chance we got to see the hospitals most senior doctor and he has never seen anything like it before but said it's definitely not chicken pox or hand, foot and mouth - they are baffled. They are assuming that it's just been a weird reaction to a viral infection but not anything that they have ever come across. We are back home now and just trying to keep him temp down. The spots seem to have calmed down a bit today so hopefully he's turned a corner. Thanks again for the replies xx

could also be impetigo. my lo had it and eventually the spots went a bit crusty. She had to have some medicine from the docs. She was well in herself though.
If your worried go back to the docs again - don't worry if you think your bothering them, that's what they are there for. xx

My dd had this and it was Hand Foot and Mouth infection. She had red blisters on her hands and feet and also around her mouth. The inside of her mouth had ulcers too. Is this what your lo is like?

Hi gals, wondering if you can help put my mind at ease....my 20 month old son has developed a rash which is worrying me. It started out about a week ago - small red spots on his face which then developed on his hands. He's been to the doctors twice as was really worried but have been told both times that it's nothing contagious like chicken pox or measles and not viral. Have tried the glass test and that was also fine. He is well in himself though is napping a bit longer in the mornings. I would have thought that it might have started to fade by now but if anything it's getting worse - the spots have now spread under his chin, there is a small patch on his back and the spots on his hands looked really red and raised. There's nothing I can think of that he's come into contact with that might have irritated his skin and although he does have some mild food allergies this rash is completely different. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
Thanks

Hi
my son had a rash and a high temperature which resulted in him being taken in hospital - they said it was a viral infection but it turned out in the end to be slap cheek syndrome looks like the cheeks have been slapped and a rash all over - he now gets a rash every time he gets a cold the dr says it is the body's way of ridding the system of the virus but nothing to worry about x
