Hello hon, my problems pale into insignificance compared to yours. How do you cope? I guess the answer is you have to. I hope everything goes well for all children and moves in the right drection. We have a Newfoundland pup who at weeks (last Monday) weighed exactly 2 stone!! Dread to think what he will be when he has his 2nd jabs next week! He is growing before our very eyes and will be very big!!! The vet thinks between 10-12 stone ish fully grown although he is bigger than average now so could expect to get to 13-14 stone. He is currently dragging his blanket round the garden having a mad 5 minutes! Ben is so active, we havent noticed a weight gain but he's definately eating more and seems to cry far more readily at anything. Apart from that no difference. I live in hope!!! HAve a good few days hon, speak soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello my love, hope all the family are well. It's been a bit chaotic here this week. New puppy and floor being laid and decorating!! We are all living in very cnfined quarters at the moment!!! Ben is Ben and the meds are just making him more hungry. Doesnt appear to be doing anything else. I have to ring next Thursday to report in but I'm nt sure what will happen next. I laugh hysterically now because if I didn't I'd cry and if I start I won't stop. God it's such hard work - mentally and emotionally. I'm drained and so tired all the time. But onwards and upwards one day at a time. Love to you all and hopefully I'll be on more next week. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

hi hun , well if you feel the meds arnt doing alot then yes its worth mentioning .
it does take time to get the dose right , rispeidone wont wont him like a zombie its ritalin that does that so dont worry .
you carry on being cynical hun , i totally understand im exactly the same .like you say they dont live with the kids day in day out we do , it us that deal with the stresses and strains from it all .
keep me posted xxx
10/6/08 21:35
hello Honey
Isn't it all a real upwards battle eh?? I have to ring on 20 June (I think!!) as doc is going on hols (again!!!!) after that to say how it is going. Do you think I should mention increasing the dose slightly?? It's just all so unknown to me, I don't want him to be a zombie but I don't think this dose is enough personally. We then have another meeting with BEn and the "specialists"" (what a joke!!!!) on July 18th. Forgive me for sounding so cynical lol!!! They don't have to live with these children do they? sometimes it can be very hard and upsetting. We will get there hon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
9/6/08 16:20
hi hun , lol it takes about 2 weeks before you notice a difference . if you dont they should then up the dose a little untill you get to the right amount for ben .
i had a letter from the hospital the other day regarding the boys appt they put down they will see cory again my 2nd ds in a year what a joke . im used to seeing them for jay that far apart but then hes been diagnosed for years and i usually just ring if theres a problem .
hope things have improved a little xxx
kids are all ok thanks , hows yours xxx
8/6/08 19:10

Hello Hon
Well so far so good!!! Ben already seems a lot more peaceful and not so jiggly!! Think it might be in his mind as I cant believe it will have worked this quick but whatever it is I like it!!!!!
4/6/08 23:23
hi dilly ,
dont beat your self up hun , its got to be one of the hardest decisions to make and i felt like that when my oldest started his meds .
you just got to remember why , its not just your son this affects you all . keep your chin up .
the only thing i can say look out for is both my boys starting dribbleing down below my 2nd ds was worse than my oldest . this is a side affect and of course might not happen .apparently there are tablets that can counteract it , other than that mine were fine on it and both slept very well at night .
good luck keep me posted it can take a few weeks to see a difference they should have told you that lol vick xxx

Hiya Vick! Gosh it sounds like you have your hands full, I hope you are ok and everything settles down for you. Ben has his first dose of meds tonight he's having 0.25ml twice a day and I felt so sick giving it to him, like I'd totally failed to be even having to contemplate giving him drugs. Are there any things I should be looking out for over the next few days?? I'm so worried about it but it had to be done, he was quite sleepy and fell asleep about 6.30! Oh the worry!! IT never stops!!!
3/6/08 13:19
hi dilly , sorry i havnt been around lately its just been so hectic here lol.
any way has your ds started his meds yet ???? if so how is it going ???
last time i wote in here i was taking both boys to see the pead , well it was a totall waist of time , i got the impression hes the non medicate type wich is fine if you dont have to live with these kids day in day out .
he gave me a conners report to give to my 2nd ds teacher that was a total waste of time she gave him mainly 1s and 2s only one 3 wich wasnt even regarding his behavour i wasnt impressed at all i have now asked his teacher to write a letter wich i can pit in with the conners reports so will see what that says . cory has got alot worse over the last few weeks and has started hitting me as well .
he also checked the boys hearts ,corys had a murmer since he was born he sent him for an ecg and chest exray . were now waiting for an appt to see a cardioligyst (sp .
and now doesnt want to see them for a year what a joke , im gonna contact the school nurse this week and see if she can get cory seen again .
sorry just realised i have gone on a bit sorry . anyway hope everythings going well . vick xxx

Gardenfairy you are doing nothing wrong. It isn't you or anything you have or haven't done. I am resigned to the fact it's just one of those things but you aren't alone hon, I have/do often just sit and sob and sob and it's like my release mechanism because somedays as much as I love my son I could just kill him!!!! ?Hiya Vick, hang in there hon. I think we're all Saints!!! Well Ben has his blood tests on Thursday before he starts his meds BUT I was called into school today for a meeting with Bens HEad teacher and class teacher and they are most concerned Ben is going onto medication, so much so they have put a strongly worded letter together from them and me saying I am very close to getting a 2nd opinion from another hospital and that Ben needs regular (weekly) counselling urgently for as long as he needs it to sort him out!!!! They said in school he is a polite, charming, well mannered helpful little boy, the O.D.D. only rears its head at home and the attachment problem only shows at home too. So I'm still going ahead with the bloods etc but I'm hoping that either way we finally get somewhere even if that means going to NOrthampton and not Kettering. GF just keep pushing, you have to keep on and on and on and shout louder and louder and louder to be heard, be insistant and don't give up!!! I'm 4 years down the line and only now just about getting somewhere although where that is god knows!!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
14/5/08 13:20
hi,my 4 y/o ds has O.D.D but he is getting worse its like he has two sides of him he blames everything on 'batman',or ollie (22 mth) or lewis (5 mth). or even the puppy.
have phoned the school today and asked teacher to keep a book of his behaviour at school to see if there are any pattens at all.
last night has been the worse night ever,he didnt eat much of his dinner played up in the bath then in the bedroom was a nightmare i was reading a story to ollie and caine, caine was jumping, running, throwing toys, shouting, screaming u name it he was doing it,he then was running back and forth into me and he head butted me so hard that he knocked me out for about 30 seconds i crawled into bathroom and sobbed hubby shouted at him quite loud but caine just sat there and laughed at us,we had to bring ollie down stairs and leave caine in his bedroom till he fell asleep. the other night he didnt fall asleep till 11.50pm then was up at 6am
what are we doing wrong ?
14/5/08 11:21

i have also took my son off his meds (ritalin) for a bit to see if he gains any weight or height ,i am coping with him by the skin of my teeth his behaviour is alot worse than i remember
hope your all well vick xxx
12/5/08 13:51
hi Vick! It's 0.25mg hon so tiny amount. I'm thinking too tiny but I've got it in my head that if they give him a nominal amount it will just shut me up so I go away!! It's the heat!!! I'm thinking all sorts. I begin to doubt myself and whether this is right or not. I have to try, we have to try. It's just so hard sometimes to know if you're doing the right thing. GP is going to contact us re bloods etc so hopefully should hear this week .xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Hope everything is ok with Darcie xxx

I am having a bad day!!!!!! ARghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! There that's better. xxxxxx I am not coping!!!!!!
