hi dilly thankyou , shes getting better now it was very scary espech when they said lumber punture i was straight on the phone to my mum as i couldnt be there when they did it to her the poor thing had it 3 times before they got it right just glad its all over now .

i dont want to add more worry to you but . thats quite a big dose to start off with usually they start them off on a smaller dose then gradully build it up . my boys started off on 0.5 mg of rispeidole and then went up to 2 tablets a day .

it does make them drousy . sorry

    different doctors do things differently

i dont mean to add more worry the docs know what there doing , my son has allways started off on the smallest dose and built up from there with all of the tablets hes tried

. im really pleased your getting some where its a long road its nice when you finally get to the end sort of lol vick xxx

Oh Vick! That must have been so frightening for you all. I hope Darcie is doing ok now bless her. I just got back in and there is a copy of a letter to our GP asking her to arrangle blood tests etc for Ben before he starts on Risperidone. The dose will be o.25ml a day in the evening to hopefully calm down his anxiousness. We will give it a go and see what happens and if it isn't suitable then at least we tried. We have spoken with Ben about it and he's quite happy to take "medicine that will make him good"! (his words not ours!!!!!!!!)  so it looks like things are finally happening.... only taken nearly 4 years - good job I'm a stayer!!!! lol xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hiya. I spoke to Deb (Dr Banhattis secretary) this morning and she said the letter detailing the drugs etc was there waiting to be signed but he was poorly and she couldn't send the letter out without him signing it. I also stressed that something had to be done (again!!!) and that things couldn't continue as they are. Apparently he and the other lady who were at the meeting both thought Ben was a lovely little boy, which he is but he is also very clever and the minute he came out he said to me "there I can do what I want now" as if to say I've been on my best behaviour for an hour and now I can revert again. Deb said she will get the letter out this week to me so we will have to wait and see what it says. I will keep you posted, hope you are ok today xxxxx

its always us parents who get the blame !!!!

anywhoo ill stop going on now sorry

i really hope you get some answers or help tomorrow dont let them fob you off keep strong .

Thanks ladies, the hugs are much appreciated. I had an op on Tuesday too so trying to recover with Ben as he is is far from easy!!!! I just wish they would do as they say, we shouldn't have to keep shouting and getting upset and cross with them before they listen. I've already been confronted with the "there are no bad children just bad parents" attitude so I feel sure they just think I'm a neurotic mother that can't cope!! But I have 3 children and enough experience to know that even when I'm not coping I'm doing it a lot better than a lot of people!!!!!! It just ruins life for the rest of the family and although I love him dearly and would die for him I don't like him very much and just wish he could be "normal" whatever that is and that we could have a  family life that didn't involve quite so much upset and worry. xxxxxx

I agree with you, stamp your feet, bang on doors, and make noise - its the only way they know you mean business. Fight your corner and make sure that someone does something, its the only thing that works.

well it's 2 weeks since our last appointment and still nothing has come through the post as promised, no follow up appt, no details on the drugs they are suggesting. I am so frustrated. DS2 is still just awful to live with, there is no other way of describing it really. I am ringing tomorrow and saying that I want to see someone else because the chap we are seeing at the moment although supposedly very high up and very "nice" seems to be totally ineffective and nearly 4 years down the line now we are worse off than ever. I'm close to giving up but not before I say my piece tomorrow!!!!!

    Hi

cory sounds like my 9y/o. DS3 and DS1(adhd) dont get in at ALL. they never really have.

We were suspicious when DS3 was about 2ish and then by 6/7 we seriously wondered if he also had ADHD, horrid behaviour, uncaring, extremely bouncy (i dont think as implusive), never finished a anything. we thought there were causes for concern. Even from a young age he would love to wind people up by running off with stuff, or standing in front of the TV (he never really watched it), or turning equipment off when people were using it. A real handful. He seemed to live to irritate!

As of the last 18mths or so, i really cant believe the change in him - helpful etc. And school work, WOW! he was so uninterested in school we thought he was the ideal candidate for vocational studies. Hes now in the top sets for all literacy/numeracy - he can do the work with ease that DS2 brings home (hes 2 academic years above)... i think we had him all wrong, dont know what caused the change (age?) but its great.

I hope that cory will find his 'place' and settle before too long. HTH XXX

lol i like the way your mind works ....

and you are right boys flip and then its over us girls like to drag it out for longer i know my dd does .

cory my 7 year old we have been conserned by his behaviour since he was 2ish ,but me and my dh ummed and arred if his behaviour was due to copying my older son wich is when i asked my oldests, peed to see him ,

his behaviour is different to jays so im inclined to think he may not have adhd but maybe odd he tends to do things on purpose to wind everyone up hes always in your face !!! is hyper as well he doesnt feel any remorse and wont say sorry, hes also behind at school although when i speak to his teachers about it they dont seem to concerned , although his behavour is not to bad in class in the playground its a different ball game .

the conners report the teacher did was completly different to mine .i have since been told the school has a rep to protect .

i am hoping the teacher he has this year will support  me this time (fx)

him and my oldest dont get on there always fighting and arguing he tends to get on better with the babys maybe because they dont judge him !!!!!

thankyou its so nice to talk to someone about these things even if its on the internet ,it brings me some hope that what im doing as a mother is to some extent right vick xxx
