Hi, my son isn't allowed fizzy drinks and we changed his diet 2 years ago at least so we have tried all that. He eats plenty of fresh fruit and veg, cereal, carbs etc. The drug definately isn't ritolin but whatever it is it is given in tiny measures and for the sake of the rest of our family (if we only had ds2 then maybe it would be different) we have to try whatever is offered as so far 3.5 years down the line we haven't got far and our family is suffering from the stress of one 6 year old boy. And as heartless and mean as I sound I have to consider everyone in my family and not just 1 child or I won't have a family left.

hi Im new here, I heard you have been approached with medication and I have to say that be very carefulbefore putting your child on anything synthetic.  The drugs tend to be ones that children will become dependant on later in life, I would argue it would be best to see if you can help him naturally by encourageing good food and removing bad food - where to start - simply stop buying drinks with aspartame in (its a poison, pilots are not allowed to drink it prior to flying because it affects the central nervous system) its in 99% fizzy drinks in supermarket(including robinsons), Im guessing you havent already tried this but if you have forgive me Im only trying to help if I can

In my humble opinion I would try to encourage a change in diet because that almost always has an effect to a greater or lesser degree then move on from there

Also Ritalin is a dangerous tablet so again I advise extreme caution(doctors are not always right even the best of them)

After 3.5 years of seeing paeds/mental health workers/child physcologists Son was diagnosed with O.D.D. this week (not sure this is the only thing although it fits him to some degree) does anyone else have any experience? Theya re going to do further sessions with him and are sending me information of a drug (who's name I can't remember!! begins with a D I think) this will help ease his anxieties and worries apparently. Also doing VIG - Video something Guidance!! so they can video us all interacting to see how our spoken and unspoken communication is! I'm not sure I feel we've gotten anywhere still - no one is helping at home or advising how we can get through this - it's a nightmare.
