Thanks to you lovely ladies I went to see our Hv today to see about some freebies. She called back later, as she hadnt a clue, to say she'd spoken to the incontenance nurse and I would be entitled to 4 pullups a day, nappies for night, two washable bed protecters and some proper pants that have an incontenance insert. She had also tried to get me a carseat pad but I'd have to pay for that. Ds3 wears pants during the day but needs telling to go to the loo as he's very unreliable. Any upset and he will go through a dozen changes. She has to measure him and do some calculations to get the right fit/absorbancy and it's reassessed every 3mth. Thank you all. It'll save us a packet, especially good as dh has just been made redundant...x

Got mine after a long battle, In bristol the special needs directry says you can have them from age 3, but they had just put it up to age 4, so I had to wait.  They arrived on his fourth birthday but we are only allowed 4 per day!  Sent in three months batches,  They are fixies and size 6 is the largest size, if you want more you are expected to buy them - they are expensive.  My son gets through about 10 per day.  the next size up is a incontience type pants/wrap around pant - got sent a sample for these and they are utterly rubbish he did one wee and it leaked all around the sides he was probably better wearing pants and a sanitry pad.  There is such a vast difference in what you get around the country its amazing

Hi, we're in Cheshire and I started getting the Libero ones for my son when he was 3.  The special school he goes to sorted it all out for me.  They sent out a size 6 last time instead of a size 5!  I noticed on my packets that they go up to 7 as well.  We get 3 months supply at a time

We're in Ipswich and have just started getting free nappies for ds who is almost 5. We  get libero comfort fit but our hv requested us a size too small. We're coping with them but have requested the next size up for our next delivery which should be in a couple of weeks. We've been told they don't do them in the next size up which is a load of rubbish cos according to the pack they go up to a size 7 so god knows what we'll get. The ones we have now though are very good and don't leak. They are pretty much like pampers but like someone else said earlier i think it does depend on where u live as to what u get xxx

I live in Brighton and have just started getting them for my ds. They are german and called Fixies. They are bigger than the size 6 Pampers and so far seem quite good. They also do pants but i haven't tried those yet.

Where I live in Swansea, kids usually get given Pampers although Tia doesn't, she has had an op where the bladder has been brought to the surface of her tummy and is about an inch below her belly button, because of this, she gets adult continence nappies but they have just changed supplier and the new ones are cr@p I am nagging my continence nurse to get me the other ones again.

I'm not sure if it differs depending on health trust/area, but when I was getting them for ds1 it was pampers. x

It's been a while as my dd is now 14 years old but when we got them they were made by Poduce. Not that different from pampers. HTH.
