great news charlotte. We are also looking into special school for jack as its expecting too much of him at mainstream and i feel its unfair on him, have had his review bought forward to after xmas. How long does it take after the review to get an answer do you know?
16/10/08 16:28
hi im so happy things were positive it might be worth getting adam to visit the special school with you to get his opinion i know its a bit late for the review but atleast you know what he thinks i really hope you get transport for him.
16/10/08 15:43
Hi Ladies,
Just thought I would update you. Anuall review went ok. My letter ended up being 4 a4 pages long lol. But I really think it got the point across. And ds old teacher from a rentergration centre was there and she said I said pretty much everthing in my letter and that =she agreed with everthing I put and added bits on aswell. Think it helped aswell with having his doctor from camhs there aswell as she stressed her concerns aswell.
We also talked about transpoprt and they said he would not get transport if the school is less than 3 miles away or if there was a parent that could take him regardless if the parent had to take others to school. They said he would have to make his own way camhs was really concerned by this and said that he would not be able to because of his adhd and emotional state and his poor memory he will end up getting lost or wondering of etc. I hyave checked to see how far the school is and its excately 3 miles so Im hoping he will get it.
It all sounded positive about Adam getting into a special school though. The woman from the lea looked at me as if i knew nothing and she was using all this jargon etc and then said oh do u know what that means to me lol so repiled yes i have delt with this for 9 yrs I KNOW ALL THE JARGON ETC. Im not sure she was on our side but its not up to her to decide thank god I just hope she puts the case through properly.
Also the senco from the specail school was invited and she seems nice, while information was being read out about Adam she said oh its almost as if he his Autic now thats the 4th person as said something along those lines. While his teacher was reading out the observations they had in school regarding Adam I never realised he had problems with running about etc but i GUESS we live with Adam 24/7 and get use to all his little things.
I guess its now a waiting game to see what the outcome is.
Hope you ladies get on well with yours. Thanks for your help Charlotte

hiya ladies, charlotte can you ask your son if he wants to go to a smaller school or a larger school and note in your statement his words and why if he says the smaller school like today i took mason to look at the mainstream secondry school and asked his opinion now hes seen booth schools and he said he liked the smaller(special school) cause it was quiter and he could possibly make some nice freinds, these was his words so ill be including this in his letter stress as much as possible he needs a escort to school as he has no sence of danger you have every right to chose the special school as your main choice but it goes on merrit come with a list of pros and cons for each school highlighting your concerns for each school try and have a bigger list of possitives for the special school than you do for mainstream and mention these points or add it to your statement i hope ive made sence good luck
15/10/08 15:52
Hi Charlotte, sounds good, I cant think of anything else to add but the other ladies with older boys might... hope it goes okay for you.
Meds, im not sure, first few days he was brilliant today i got told very lively and silly and got his willy out?? so I dont know what to think.
Do you think im wrong, basically i used to take him in round the front before the bell went and pick him up from the same place before the bell went. They asked me to start taking him playground mornings to socialise (i think its part that and part so that he is not there earlier) So i started doing this and think its good for him to feel as normal as poss so his one to one came out with him and told me in front of the playground silly and lively and wispered in my ear bout the willy stuff. i phoned the school to say he doesnt need them to come out with him and not to tell me stuff like that in front of everyone else. I do like his one to one teacher as a person she is really nice, but its always hes done this and that and i know hes gonna do it anyway so do i really have to hear it every single day? or am I trying to bury me head in the sand?
Oh, bum holes lol
Sorry for rambling hope everyone okay

Hi Ladies, I'm hoping if any of you will be able to help me?. I have Adam anuall review tomarrow and Im trying to write a letter putting our concerns across etc., So far I have written this please can you tell me if this is ok or if anything else needs to be added?.
Although Adam as settled in well at ......... we feel this is because of his Medication and that the school is amll and not so over wheliming. We feel a move to a mainstream secondary school will not be a positive move for Adam. Adam as shown that he finds it difficult in a large mainstream school which is just like a secondary school in the way the school was layed out ie changing classess and teachers for different subjects. Adam also found it hard to cope with the overwhelming size of the school the amount of pupils and staff.
Adam as not had a very good start to his school life with severeal moves exclusions etc. We need to look forward and think what is right for Adam we need to get the secondary school placement right for Adam we want to continue building on his confidence and this will only improve more if Adam ws accepted to be placed in a special needs school which will be more suited for his needs e,g not so overwhelming not so many pupils, We feel Adam will cope more in these surrondings more than a mainstream school.
We all so have to consider the 2 secondary mainstream schools around here and not really within walking distance for Adam to which he will also have to cross many main roads which to let Adam do this will be a disater from the word go due to Adam having no awarness of danger.
Thats all I have so far I think i need to ad to it a bit more but im not sure what else to put anyone got any ideas please.
Thanks Charlotte

Hi Racheal, Hope your ds 1st day with meds went ok?
Thresea hope your ds continues to be kind to his brother etc.
Well im still feeling rotton and now my chest is strting to hurt a little trying to get into docs its so flaming hard all wk I have been trying and they say they have no appiotments left so now got to wait for the doc to ring me to see if I need to be seen if I do they will offer me an emergency appiotment this afternoon at 3.30 just as I have to get kids from school. im trying not to do a lot of talking but its not working.
My parent worker said ds may have to go to mainstream school as he his doing well inschool at the min but I tried to say thats because it a smaller calmer enviorment etc but she wasnt having any of it, So if he does have to go mainstream god knows how I will do it as I can not trust him to walk to school on his own so will have to be in 2 places at once lol think I need to split my self in 2. she mentioned transport for him but we would have to pay for it if the LEA say no to it. I guess I will ahve to see what happens tomarrow at the annuall review just hope my voice comes back by then.
any way better get a bit of cleaning done.

hiya back from school trip wich both mason and i enjoyed we went to tudor house.............. as for special school its one for chilren with moderate learning dificulties i asked how many was on roll and roughly how many to a class and adult to child ratio i aslo asked about transport as this matters for my sons needs i also asked what outside interactions they had like they bring them to mainstream once or twice a month cause our mainstream have tech collage so they use that so asked about that hope evry ones ok
catch you all later theresa xxx

Hi Theresa, Glad Mason liked the school its good with it only being small schools I think they get on better. Hope he gets in. We are going to look at a special school end of the month. What questions did you ask if you dont mind me asking?
Hi Racheal, How did your dd get on at school, Its nice to hear good things about our kids espically as it seems to be 98% of the time its negative comments.
Well Things not to bad here took ds bowling last night with his friends and Adam came along to it was nice to see Adam and his brother get on well. Adam got really upset both games as he never won but other than that it was great.
I had someone from RedCross ring to see if Adam attended the summer playscheme back in the summer as they had some paper work regarding Adam go missing nothing important though thank god, Foe some reason they had on his records that Adam had ASD, So did the playscheme dont know where they got that from as he as not been dianogised with having ASD only ADHD LEARNING and Sensory problems.
Looks like we wont be going on Holiday on July 11th next yr school wont authroise 2 days of school for the holiday as they finish on the 14th July which is a Tuesday funny day to finish on really so got to try and get dates moved. They said I can put in for the dates but will get a letter being turned down but they said I can appeal it I just dont know seems a lot of hassle really. I tried saying its only the very last 2 days of the school before summer holidays they wont be doing much in those 2 days. So not like they will miss much.
Adam is starting to get back into his groups slowly which is great he does a sports one on a Thursday after school and he already thinks he his losing weight lol I wish it was that easy. When I picked him up he said look mum my tummy getting flatter lol. Before he went on the meds he used to eat a lot of bread etc and snack a lot he as lost a very little since being on the meds but still within range and now he stays the same hasnt put any on in months.
Well better go get kids tea's on. Hope everyone else is getting on ok.

Hi Vicky, sounds like you are having a complete nightmare, big hugs. Is it the school that said he couldnt go on the trip? if so, I think thats unfair. Fair enought they have to learn right from wrong but it does zilch for their self esteem always getting told they are naughty at school, this is a big gripe of mine at the mo.
Jacks going up and down - its only been a week and a definite improvement, had a dip for a couple of days and is on the up again, i guess his body is still getting used to it. Touch wood and everything else, its not messign up his sleep or appetite thank god. I phoned the school up as im sick of only getting negative, if i feel crap for it how must he feel, Friday they were really positive about him and he got top of the behaviour chart, first time ever on a Friday.
Why is Jay having a break, have the doctors told you to give him a break to see how he is without it? I hope you sort his medication again soon, I must admit, I dont think I could be without it now I have seen how it changes them from what I can see is for the best - chin up mate, im right with you on feeling poo about behaviour, its like a living nighmare xxxx
