oh and you keep reducing down every few days or so at a pace that he can live with until he gets to about 2 or 3 hopefully within time he will get out of the habit, you will be suprised, by how quick it works when they don't get a reaction for cursing, you will need to involve the school, and get the full support of all his teachers

Reward him for it yes you did hear me right

get the school to help, if at all possible first right down everything you condider to be a swear word, different people have different ideas.

then start taking a record of how often he curses, say in one case he curses at the most 50 times a day

next step is to bring in a token system for a younger child (this has worked btw) two containers one with a happy face one with a sad face, don't know what you could use for a older child but be inventive

system works like this he curses 50 time a day give him 55 straws, each time he has been heard to curse, he moves a straw containers, if he has straws left at the end of the day, he gets a reward token than can then  be saved for a treat of his chosing, a new computer game, etc etc, next day take out two straws and so on , praise him to high heaven everytime he has straws left, good boy johnny you only cursed 40 time today that is very good

you can decided how many tokens is needed to get the good reward at the end, don't make it too hard to achieve though, you may never stop him completely, but then we all curse in the right circumstances, get him to move his own straws or whatever but never make a fuss when he curses

maybe for a older child you could get him a special book, and draw up charts that must be tickedwhen he curses
