Hi,
I started getting higher rate mobility all. when my son turned 3 and blue badge when he was 2. I got a form to fill in for the tax exemption when the mob allowance started. It should say on the Diret.Gov website about applying for it and if you are entitled. I would think you are entitled though seeing you're getting the same allowances as me!

Hi,
There are also limitations on what you can use the car for if you do claim disabled tax exemption! Will all be explained in a leaflet you get with the mobility award.

Hi All
I have just received a blue badge for my daughter as she is now two, does this mean I can now get the free tax? If so do I wait until my current tax expires or can I get the time left reimbursed.
Many thanks Gemma

you can only get car tax exemption if you are on high rate mobility on DLA.
Also the vehicle must be registered in your name or registered in the name of someone you nominate to drive for you (a nominee).
However, the vehicle must only be used for your purposes, for example shopping or getting prescriptions.
If it is being used by the nominee or someone else for their own personal needs, then the exemption will be lost and the normal rate of vehicle tax must be paid.
