Hi hun..I'm not surprised your miffed...unfortunately people forget that this is a child and family that they are dealing with... and it's the family who are dealing with the fall out of behaviour etc ..not just on a daily basis ...but hourly basis... I understand as a parent..because I've got a daughter with dyspraxia... and my own OT was next to useless..and that's no exageration..lol.. keep the faith..LOL...and stay strong..your only trying to get the best possible help for your child...even if they wont make it easy   x

Hi chrissie.. I'm really surprised that your local team wont see your child... I would phone up and clarify what the criteria is for referral to camhs team is ? they should be able to say if there is an age bracket (although they are child and adolesence mh) and if there is particular requirements (although your GP would also be able to tell you what this is, as the referral process is usually through them) also if you have problems..then ask your GP to refer you to your local pediatrician in your local major hospital..or children's centre... they can they request behavioural psychologists services should they think it's appropriate... I hope this helps ? stay strong..and trust your judgement x

My son has has behaviour/emotional difficulties since he was born, he's now 2 1/2 and my doctor has just refered him to the interlink agency along with a recomendation he should see CAMHS.

I have just received a letter today saying that because of his age the interlink team wont refer him to CAMHS, they have refered him to our health visitor. I have recently moved therefore I have only seen my health visitor once, she has never met my son (whereas my dr has known him since he was born)

I am seeing my health visitor on Tuesday (finally, been waiting for her to come for 3mnths as shes cancelled 3 appointments).

Anyhow, ive rang this interlink agency to ask what they are palying at and surprise surprise the man who made the decision isnt available. So I ring my drs and the receptionist is going to have a word with my dr to see if there is anything he can do or if not then recommend what will happen next.

How can a 15 min appointment with a woman who has never met my son decide on whether he needs help or not, surely a drs opinion is more valid????

Really angry, im not going to let this rest, but i would like some advice on where i stand before i go in guns blazing....

    thanks
