my dd has just turned 4 & still in her 5 point harness seat, she will probabaly be in it for approx another 4 months, when dd2 will need it, then I guess we will get her a high back booster seat, she is just 2 stone now (not sure in kg)

The 18kg limit is because the manufacturers can't guarantee that the harness will withstand the impact of a heavier child being forced against it in the event of a collision.

maxi the 36kg limit is for an 11 year old using a booster seat it doesn't say what weight they should be out of the harness.

The weight limit is still 18 kg for using the harness. This seat is a rebadged Britax Trio and the information is here http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_65_10751_-1_14568_67831_10001_14568#description_tab

It tells you on the description (Argos's) it says 36kg!!  It's because it converts to a booster seat.

I have a Britax Hi-Liner for DD1 and she loves it. She won't use a backless booster as she doesn't feel safe or comfortable. DD2 has a Britax Evolva 2-3 and it is basically the same seat but with more padding.

DD2 will be 5 in November and is still in a Britax Freeway in DH car. She weighs 16.5kg so is still well below the upper weight limit. She was in a Britax Renaissance in my car until last month but my niece was outgrowing her rearfacing seat so we gave her the seat. My brother and SIL have 2 cars and needed 2 seats and it seemed pointless not to give them our seat when we were only going to be able to use it for another few months.

My dd is only 2 year 9 months but weight 18 kg as she is tall for her age.  I am happy to keep her in her maxi cosi tobi car seat, but when I asked in Halfords and baby world they said that she is now to heavy for teh harness and should move into a 15kg plus seat - (I am about to make a new post on this as I don'y know which one to get)

I woudl keep  your Lo in the 5 point harness until she is 18kg.  Gosh it makes me feel like a have a big girl if she is bigger than some 4 years olds  - I always feel I shoud justify it as she isn't fat at all - she is juts much taller than any of her 2 year old friends and she quote strong too - so that just makes her heavier than the average child her age.

Our dd is in a britax booster seat with back so we just use the seat belt on her. Shes 31/2yrs we tried to keep her in her car seat with harness as long as possible but shes just too tall now.  We got the seat half price for £19.99 from argos.

Our dd ( 3 3/4) is in the normal child car seat that is held in place with the seat belt.  the only difference with her seat and a 5 point harness is it has no harness.

I wanted to keep dd in the five point harnes as long as possible but she became too tall for the seat we had.  We even was lent a bigger one from a friend and within a couple of months she was too big for that one too.

Our dd is not the normal size of a nearly 4 year old she gets mistaken for allot older child.  There is not much diffence in her height with some of our friends 5/6 year olds children!

I wouldn't worry about what seat your child is in as along as it's the best one you  can afford and it's suitable for your child and it's legal.  I just wished that dd stayed in her 5 point harnes seat for longer than what she did!

My lil girl is only 2, but i think wen she's 4 if she still fits in a 5 point harness she'll be in 1, i'd rather be safe than sorry! and it's all part of th law now ain't it, depending on height, (i have a friend who's 22 and she's a tiny lass, she just passed the mark for a boster seat)I wouldn't worry about wot the other mums r doing, i'd say keep him in it untill he's outgrown it! I Know thats wot i'll be doing! xxx
