Do you talk to him about it at all?? This kinda thing was happening with my ds and I just used to say to him that when he wakes up, if it's still dark then just snuggle back down and sleep - took a few days but he soon got it! Good luck - it's not nice being woken in the night!

Does he wake at the same time every night? If so it will just be his body clock has got used to waking at these time, try wake to sleep to break the habit.

my 2 year old is waking at night...I posted on here 6 weeks ago asking for advise about my son. He's been a god send when he comes to sleeping untill 7 weeks ago he just started waking at night coming into me and my OH's room and trying to get into our bed, i put him straight back into his bed without talking to him and he's asleep as soon as i put him down. It happens twice a night once if i'm extra lucky but i havent had a good nights sleep in so long
he hasnt got a stair gate as they scare the life out of him, he hasnt got a night light because that makes him wake up more!! I tried putting him to bed later but still gets up in the night and he wakes at 6am every morning without fail. What happened to my 6.30pm to 7am boy
Anyone going through or been through the same...how long does it last, am i doing the right thing??Thanks all in advance just need some sleep again

Right..... my lo went thro the same thing she woke up every night for about 3 months... DONT WORRY IT PASSES. So long as you dont invite them into your bed and stick to routine then it will pass, has your child been potty trained in the day> If so it may be because they do not like taking a pee in nappy as mine didnt, if they are potty trained try puttin them on potty last thing at night when they are asleep, also invest in a night light and then rouse them last thing at night just enough so they know you are there but not wide awake then this will put them back into a deeper sleep. Stairgate for their door, lots of things can be done and you will get back to a good night sleep. good luck and let me know what happens. i know what its like. xx
