Like many posts on this tread: I'm a ginger to! When I was younger I had darker ginger hair and was bullied for it, I hated my hair and started to dye it as soon as I realised I could. Now my ginger is more strawberry blonde and I would do anything to get by darker red back! I think it is one of these things that kids hate to have and adults love! When I was younger I always said that I never wanted my kids to have ginger hair but when DD was born I was really disappointed that she was blonde!

    * stands up* My DS is 3 and GINGER! lol. A bit of a suprise as both DH & I are brown. I was hoping DS2 would be ginger too, but he's light brown. When DS was born people kept saying "oh, it's strawberry blonde" or " toffee coloured" my response was , " It's alright, you can say ginger!" It's great, I can always find him in a crowd, and the attention he gets whilst out is amazingl Feel abit bad for DS2, it doensn't get the same attention. Not sure if he'll be bullied, I think he's got the personality not to. Having said that, I got a lot of stick for being skinny.

my eldest dd has beautiful red curly ringlet hair , it is stunning , whenever we go out we always get stopped and people comment on what lovely hair she has . She is going through a phase of wanting it straightened at the moment and as she is 9 we have been letting her for special occasions. when i was pregnant i just assumed that baby would also be ginger but she is so blonde and straight,

my dd has never been bullied about her hair , the only occassion we have had when this father of one of the children in her nursery kept calling her a ginger nuggett!!!! i ignored it at first then ha dto pull him up and ask him if he liked being called for being fat and bald !!!!, he never said it again . lol x

my son is a dark blonde, but in certain lights it can have streaks of strawberry reddish colour in it..it shows more when his hair has grown quite long but looks more white blonde when its cut short. my dad was dark ginger and became an auburn type colour..now he more like a brown but his eyebrows are still red lol, me and my sister however were both white blonde, and so is my partner.my sister's 2 children both had black hair, so its just my son that inherited the "ginger gene" its mad how DNA and the human body works!

Take a look around.  I don't think red hair is the minority any more.  My daughter has about 3 colours in her hair.  An elderly lady stopped me in town once and told me it was caramel.  The hairdresser agreed.  In fact almost everyone that speaks to us comments on what a beautiful colour my daughter hair is.  My step daughter is 13 has strawberry blonde hair  and has been teased as being bullied.  It told her women pay £60 plus for that colour so take no notice.  My step son who is 17 was proper wirey ginger, a clever lad and was bullied.  He dealt with it very weel.  He is now a lovely reddish brown.  Perhaps ginger is the new blonde!!!!

I love red hair!!! I would dye mine like Bree (desperate housewives) but my skin tone isn't right. When I was a little girl my "boyfriend" was a ginger haired boy.

I am a brunette and got picked on like most of the other kids in school. Bullies tend to pick up on insecurities and they play on them. Good for you, for teaching your lo red hair is beautiful. xx

Yes I agree re bullying, my lo has quite a fiery red head temper and I think she'll stick up for herself and hopefully have no problems should anyone ever try to pick on her.  XXxx
