Teddy worked for us too. Does your lo have a spacer to use with the inhaler?

When we first started giving our ds his inhaler we made his teddy take the inhaler first and praised the teddy for being so good about it - i am sure this helped and he takes the inhaler with very little fuss.

Ds (2yrs 9mths) has been under the Drs for his asthma since he was 6-9 months , he has had blue inhaler and a white and green one since - his breathing only seems to kick off when he has a cold(or chest infection). We try to get a humidifier going in the winder when we have the central heating going, to try and get some moisture in the air. Donlt know wheter it helps (but can't harm!). Again, we hoover regularly and change sheets /bedding regularly, figure that's lal you can do. Having siad that i had heard that eating an apple a day (yes really!) is supposed to help - saw that in abook food that harm and food sthat heal! If you are interested i msg me and i will scan the page of the book for you.

My dd gets it whan she has & cold & was always admitted to hospital when she got one as it went into her chest. She lived on steroids & her blue inhaler. Doctors say it is viral asthma as she is OK at other times. Since we started giving her 2 puffs day & night of her steroid inhaler, using her reliever if she shows signs of a cold, she has not been in hospital once!! It has worked brilliantly for her & I would recommend trying it. Dd was 3 in June btw.

Hi Sammy,
I can't really help but my son (3.5 yrs) was diagnosed 3 months ago after 2 hospital admissions. He only gets attacks when he has a cold which as you say, nowadays seems to be all the time. At least every term he gets a cold and has a 3 day long attack, and he almost always has a cough these days too

Jamie has been having the preventative pump as well as the reliever inhalor. We are back ot docs tomorrow to monitor things.
I've tried changing his bed more often, airing his room, moving all but one teddy out of the room. I even bought a new Allergy vacum, incase his was caused by dust mites or something, but if he gets a cold, that's it. It's a learning curve I think. I'd say try to keep her away from other kids with colds but that is impossibe imo.
Sorry I've been no help whatsoever, lol, but we could keep each other updated incase we make a breakthrough?
Good luck

I have just been told by my doctor that my LO has Asthma, she seems to only get it when she gets a bad cough and cold which seems to be ever 2 weeks at the moment, does any one have any ideas how to try and prevent it happening, i.e. is there anything I can out in her room, Thanks

Yes she does, we have been getting her used to it, so hopefully when we have to use it she will be OK
