Hi my son was also on domperidone at 7 months due to reflux since birth. He then stopped being sick but developed acute diarrohea instead for the next 3 months(we couldnt take him anywhere as it would rise up to his neck) The specialist referred us to a dietician and we came to the conclusion he was allergic to milk. We put him on nutriprem and he got better. He is now 2 and can actually tolerate milk again but it was a worrying time.

Sorry to gate crash, but my son was born at 28wks and has a relux, he is alos on Domperidone and Ranitidine for it, but sorry to tell you this my son is now 21 months(19 corrected) and is still having the meds as he is still a sickly boy.
The pead consultant is not too worried about his reflux as my son is still gaining weight really well, he was 2 lb 7 oz at birth and 3 wks ago he weighed 27 lb 2oz, so they will not do anything for him as he is gaining weight.
I have been told as soon as my son got more mobile it would help, but he still has his reflux.

Thank you for that,as i've said before its a comfort to know your not the only one who's baby does it.I did start to worry that Alfie had something really wrong with him before it was diagnosed !! I do raise the moses basket with a phone book and yellow pages ! but not sure if that high enough or not.The vomiting i can probably cope withits the straining and griping that drives me potty! As that makes him be more sick, just one nights washing is awful !!!!!!!! Fingers crossed the medication kicks in soon.x

Hi sorry i missed your post. It seems so long ago now have been trying to remember, I am pretty sure it took a good few days after staring his meds for it to start working. That is why the nurse reccomended sleeping him as upright as possible, that seemed to work wonders.
The straining as if for a poo stopped after meds however he just groaned for weeks after coming home for no apparent reason. He looked perfectly asleep when you looked at him doing it.
Theo is still very sicky now, he is 28 weeks old and has been having medication for it since about 15 weeks, he can projectile it all out about once a day and the rest of his bottles he dribbles it in bits over about two hours,
A lot of people say that weaning sems to help stop the effects of reflux, but Theo is worse now and the doctor says not to worry about that even though i have been weaning him for about 6 weeks.
i hope that all makes sense as have just written things as i remember. Don't know if it helps, i hope so, Glad Alfie is out of hospital its always horrible when they go back in. When Theo came home from SCBU i thought rather naively that was it with hospitals. No such luck x x

Just wondering a few things as you replyed to my thread on the straining .Sorry to badger you over this but i was just wondering how long the medication for the relux took to work? Also was your lo sickly with it? Don't know if you read my reply but Alfie now been put on donperidon as well as the other two,he came out of hospital yesterday and last night ws worse than ever. I'm prob just being impatient but it's so frustating!!!!!!

Thanks for the replys,I think it's going to be one of those trial and error things for a while. He's not really as sickly but that was never really the problem. He still does the straining noises but i started writing down when he was doing it and it's always from 5am ish till his first feed in the morning???He's also gone back to struggling to poo even though the hospital said the domperidone would help this.four days in hospital and i don't feel any the wiser!
