are you breast feeding or formula?  if its formula im pretty sure she should be getting some form of water and not just milk iyswim

Hi My daughter was born 8 weeks early she weighed 4lb 2 she is putting on loads of weight!!! she is now 9lb I give her water she has 4 oz of water per day in between feeds and she loves it. She has the same amount of milk as normal and its done her no harm. When I told the H/V she said thats fine.

I agree. If she's thirsty, just offer her more milk.

I wouldnt because as the nurse says its empty calories and prem babies need all the calories they can get!

ella was born weighing 5 lb then lost some and it took her 15 days to get back to it she at the time she was only taking 1oz 3 hourly then up to 2 oz so it was a struggle now she takes 3oz 3-4 hourly my question is with the hot weather should i offer her water when i asked neonatal nirse when she was born i was told no as it is empty calaries and she needs to grow if she wants a drink give her milk which is fine makes sense but now she is 4 weeks taking more milk and gaining weight would this still apply or can she now have water on the growth charts she isnt even on a line so she is still small should i wait till she picks up a bit were any of you ladies told this or told when lo could have water for thirst
