hi, i just wanted to say that i have 4 friend that have early babies and all of them have been very different, one was born at32weeks and stayed in incu for over 7weeks and then one of my friends had triplets at34weeks and although 34weeks is more then 32 when you have 3 in there in strad of 1 it makes 34weeks alot less in most cases they were born and home in5days, so you can never tell,

as you said if something went wrong you could never forgive your self and you never no baby could come on its own anyways,

    goodluck xx

Hi there , iv had a nearly 35 weeker and a 41week baby , with my premmie i had a very badly infected placenta! she was born not breathin, wisked of to scbu where she was ventalated for 24 hrs and on cpap for 24 hrs and also given 3 lots of different antibiotics , i was also given the same. Once she started to breath unaded she came on leeps and bounds, fed really well and came home 8 days later. Gained weight brilliantly even though she was only 4lb 12 born she soon caught up. shes now 3 ,tall , weighs 39lb you would never have guessed she was prem.

As for my lad the 41wker, i had him and came home the same day, he was fine.

My personal oppinion to you is see how you feel at 34 weeks, you will have regular scans till then and they can check the placenta and the blood flow threw the scan, if they think your in any danger they will deliver you anyway, if not i would say if you can hold out till 37 weeks it would perhaps be for the best. What i went threw those 1st few hours of my daughters life i wouldnt wish it on anyone! i really thought i was going to be ok and so was baby as i was nearly 35 weeks , i was so wrong! dont get me wrong it all turned out well but she did have to fight.

Good luck in your pregnancy and keep us updated xxx

firstly a thing to consider is...do your dates and the scan dates match?  However, i would go for an induction, the thing is that at 35 weeks your baby will be admitted to the special care baby unit, because most hospitals have a policy that if they are under 36 weeks they automatically get admitted.  So although your previous child was on scbu because of jaundice had it been 36 weeks, the jaundice would still have been evident but it would have been managed on the postnatal ward.  35 weekers tend to be a bit slower at feeding as well.  This has no long term effects though.

    Does this make sense????

    Hi Ladies

I hope you dont mind me posting here but with you all having experience with early babies i thought you might be able to offer the best advice.

Im currently 26 weeks pregnant, and i have a little boy at home (Luke, 2 on june 1st)

Our first baby, Reece, was stillborn in june 2005 at 35+4 due to a concelaed placental abruption. I then had a MMC in aug 2005 and fell pregnant again with luke in Oct 2005.

Due to losing Reece at 35+4 i was under consultant care with luke and had extra scans, our consulatant wanted us to get to 36/37 weeks with luke but by the time we got to 34 he agreed to induce at 35 weeks + 1 day as we really werent coping emotionally with the fear of it happening again. I was booked for induction but luke came on his own at 35 weeks and speant 6 days in hospital due to jaundice.

I am under consultant care again with lots of scans and we have the same plan as before, scans until 34 weeks and then see how we are doing. We already know that if we ask for an induction at 35 weeks the chances are that our consultant will agree but im wondering if we should try to get that little bit further.

    my concerns are......

if we go past 35 weeks and then something goes wrong i will never forgive myself BUT wouldnt an extra week or 2 make the baby that little bit stronger?  Is there much difference between 35 and 36 weeks?

Im just so scared, i dont want to do the wrong thing and i want my baby to have the best possible chance without having to stay in hospital for a long time either as i also need to think of luke.

I know the chances of another abruption are slim but its still a chance.

    Thanks

    Ann
