    My lot were

    DD1 35 weeks 5lb 13ozs - in hospital 7 days (postnatal ward) Now 12 yrs old.
    DD2 26 weeks 2lb 1.5 ozs - in SCBU 98 days. Now 9 yrs old.
DS 29 weeks 2lb 4.5 ozs - in SCBU 47 days. Now 6 yrs old
    DD3 34 weeks 3lb 7 ozs - in SCBU 24 days.Now 3 yrs old
    DD4 32 weeks 4lb 7 ozs - in SCBU 22 days.27 weeks old.

DD2 was very poorly at birth, I had chorioamniotitis (sp?) which  caused her to have sepsis. She was assumed to be breech and so they decided to go for a normal delivery. Unfortunately for her she was head first and her head was being contracted on. She had severe bruising to her head and face which took 3 weeks to go down! Also the cord came down in front of her cutting off her oxygen supply.

All are now doing fine, very minor long term effects of prematurity  affecting DD2 and DS.  When the really early ones were born I couldn`t imagine ever taking them home, yet a few years on and they are typical noisy, boistrous kids and I wouldn`t have it any other way.

My littel girl was born at 23 weeks weighing 1lb!! She's 1 year old now and has amazed medical staff continuously. She's disabled and weighs only 12lb but a delight to have at home and a really happy baby.

Never underestimate these wee fighters-I think medical staff do and it's not right. Reading so many other stories of prem babies, they do fantastically well these days.

Good luck to all of you with your little marvels and may they keep suprising us!!

my little girl was due the 1st july but she decided to arrive on the 17 april,

she is doing well now she had meningitus and she also had to have a cpap she also has reflux, and is on infant gaviscon, but she is coming home this week she now weighs 4lb 12oz and 37 days old.

in the first week we didnt think we were going to be brining her home but she proved all the doctors wrong.

hope this helps some people to see there is a light at the end of a very long tunnel, i couldnt see it in the first week.
