Thanks for replying everyone, sorry i have not been online in a week. Theo had an appointment on monday at hospital to check on his hernia ops so i asked his doctor then. He said that they will try and straighten his willy as it a funny shape, try and change where the wee comes out as it is about half way down at the mo, and they will remove his foreskin as its split. I have always thought his willy looked a bit odd but as its the only baby willy i have ever seen assumed thats what it was meant to look like. Anyway in the end he will just look like he has been circumsised which is fine by me. They also said they are aiming to book him in before christmas as they do not like to leave it to long, it will definately be done before he is toilet trained.
Thanks for all your replies guys, i am re assured that it is fairly straight forward and that he won't be staying overnight. We have to travel a long distance for his operations so im glad it will all be sorted in the same day xx

Well from what iv just read id say to try get it done while hes young. My friends lad had this they didnt operate untill he was 6 , he had 2 operations with a week stay with each!! the 1st it was cut open and it was put into place the second he had to have it all reconstructed, he was also a term baby. From what iv read from the op i say it sounds better to have it sorted while there younger xx

Sorry to gate crash just wanted to say ds1 had this his hole was at the base of the tip of his willy, He was operated on when he was 12 months old and he had 2 have a 2nd op on it cos the repair the did came undone slightly apparently there was a 5% chance that would happen and my son is one of these that has to be difficult lol. He was born at term so it is just one of those things but my hubby also has it so it could hae been passed from him but our 2nd son wasnt born with it. Dan went into hospital for an over night stay but he went home the same day in the end he got over the op so well he had foam padding and stuff arounds his willy he had a cathetier and he had to have 2 nappys on one for wee one for the other end he was on anti-b's and anti spasam meds for a week they then removed everything and he was fine untill thebit came undone. He is now and has no problems at all.
Sorry this is so long

Has anybody's little ones had this?? I completely forgot Theo had it until just now. All the doctors have been so vague about what they will do about. One doctor said it will be operated on when he turns one, another said they won't do anything unless it is really obvious and he's weeing on his shoes, to avoid getting picked on at school! Is it a premature baby problem or is it just one of those things?? Sorry for all the questions if anyone could tell me about there experiences i would appreciate it, i know its not serious but i do have a tendancy to worry about everything x x

my boy was born 6 days early and he has this!! (classed as term!)
ive been told he'll have an op at 12-18 months but may neeed more!! he has it linked with chordee. the hypospadias is the uretha at the base of his willy and the chordee makes it bent! even when hes got an erection it is severly bent.
as it is classed as severe he will be in overnight but if its quite mild some hospitals do it as a day case.
he was diagnosed at his newborn check but was only confirmed by consultant at the hospital. we luckily have the best surgeon and is well known for having high sucess but even she said most spring a leak and need 2!! lo may need up to 4 depending on his willy at the time.
it affects 1 in 300 males and is mostly hereditary but can also be caused by pollution of some sort or diet!! these are quite rare and its just one of those thing! in los case we think its partly genes as dp had problems and his grandfather did too!!!
