My son was born at 28 weeks weighing 3lb 3 then dropped to 2lb 12.  He is now 6 months old and started solids now and doing well.  Have been told by the HV to keep him on nutraprem 2 until he is 1 year.  He is now weighing 15lbs 1.  Nutraprem 2 is on prescription and to save money, I will keep him on this until he is 1 year as requested by the professionals, otherwise it can work out very expensive when you start buying other shelf products, once a week.  Have been told it won't hurt them if they stay on Nutraprem 2.

My lo came off it when he got to 4kg as advised by consultant, we put him on cow and gate number 1, which he didnt agree with he eventually after trying every other milk settled on aptimal, so its just trial and error with what milk fingers crossed your lo will get on great with cow and gate though, just wondered why you were putting him on number 2 though? that might be worth discussing with your hv first

My little boy was on nutriprem right up until he was a year old.

Hospital advised he should be on it till he was 6 months old but i could chose to put him on it till he was 12 months which is what i did.

he was born at 32 weeks weighing 3lb 3oz. he has never been over weight and even now he's still a little scraggy thing at 4years old. lol

My hospital consultant and HV never discussed taking him off it in the beginning and he was always fine going to the toilet and everything.

    hope this helps

Im not sure about u going to the number 2 cow and gate?? Mayeb ur hv can advise u on that, but lo had no problems changing it was just as though she never noticed a difference really. x

    Hello ladies

Hope everyone's well, as I know I've not been around for a bit - not that you've probably noticed with your lo taking up all your time!

Anyway, been advised by our HV that my girls will probably be coming off Nutriprem soon as they're now on the 98th percentile for their age (nuts huh!) and we don't want them becomming overweight. They are now 10.5 weeks uncorrected, or 5 days corrected, and weigh 9lb 2 and 8lb 8 (or did last Tuesday!)

So I guess my question is whether anyone else has been taken off NP2 before their lo was ready to be weaned, and if so, how easy was it to swap them onto another milk? I am assuming I would move them onto Cow &Gate 2, but obviously would ask my HV first.

Anyway, any advice on this would be appreciated!

    Em x
