Weaning prems is ok to start a little early as they loose nutrients from being born early, but saying that it's always best to talk to hv. I weaned Kaiya at 22 weeks. If he seems hungry then perhaps try offering milk every 3hrs rather then 4hrs it may help to satisfy him more. As for sleeping through it's hit and miss depending on the child Kaiya still wakes occasionally in the night and she's 9 months ( 7 corrected )

Hiya, my son was born 8 weeks early. Hes now 10wks old (2wks corrected). He weighs 8Ibs 12oz and currently eats up to 6oz of nutriprem milk. (which eems a lot) He feeds every four hours but doesnt seem to be satisfied. Hes always looking for something to be in his mouth. Also he groans alot after feeding and strains like he his trying to get something back up. Any advice on when to start weaning possibly?? Also should i feed him more in the day to help him sleep though the night?? Could anyone share their experiences with me. Thanks.

Does he have a dummy? Looking to have something in his mouth all the time could just be the desire to suck? He's still very young to be worrying about going through the night. Are you doing a 10/11pm dream feed? You should be able to get around 6 hours after that. The straining is most likely wind. You really shouldn't consider weaning before 17 weeks.
