I had my first baby at 35 + 5 weighing 5lb 13. She was grunting a little at first, which they think was down to the pethidine I had. She was a little cold and spent 4 hours in an incubator on labour ward with me. She then came onto the ward on a heat pad.
We had the usual jaundice problems, needed feeding every 2 hours because she would fall asleep half way through a feed. She came home at 7 days old.
She started to be a bit more awake once she was near her due date, which meant 4 hourly feeds (bliss!)

i had my twins at 34+1 weeks weighing 4lb 6oz n 4lb 3oz breathing by themselves. they were in scbu 4 15 days whilst they learned 2 feed gained weight n learned 2 keep their temp n treated 4 jaundice. developmentaly now u wouldnt tell they r prem cz they r even doing things faster than some term babies do! dd was 1st 2 learn 2 feed n made her 1st attempt a 3 days old n was taking all her bottlels of EBM by herself at 10 days whereas ds just sudenly 'switched on' went from not knowing how 2 suck at 8 days only taking 5 mls from bottle at 9 days n then having his tube out cz he took all his feeds by himself at 10 days! both weighed 4lb 6oz when they came home.
mine wernt even ill n all the different monitors they were on n drips cz they could only tollerate such a small amount of milk at 1st it was horrible, they came out of incubators n into heated cots at 3 days old n they took dd heat pad off at 5 days n all monitors exept the apnea at 6 days. ds heart beat went a lil irregular so they kept him on a bit longer bt he was fine

Hi there, im sure you have read trough these forums and there is loads of info in them so im not going to repeat. I had my lil one at 34 wks he was 5 lb 10.5ozs, the one thing i dont think i have read is (in my case anyway) to prepare for endless feeding at short intervals and a sleepy lo. Not sure how many think the same but my son really started to come on from his due date.
Good luck xx

At 35 weeks babies tend to do very well and often need little if any help. However as your baby would still be too early some issues could be learning to feed, gaining weight, keeping body temp up, jaundice and occasionally breathing problems though I know most 35 weekers dont really have many problems breathing.

34+6

I had DD2 at 35+6 and she weighed 5lbs 10ozs. She was in an incubator for the 1st day as she had problems keeping her temperature up and she was just below the 'danger level' for jaundice. Had her on the early hours of Sunday morning and we were both home by Tuesday tea time.
