I had pre-eclampsia with ds1 and he was born at 31+2, I fell pregant again very quickly and was due only a year afer ds1's due date!  I DID get pre-eclampsia again, although this time it was managed better and was given asprin from the start of pregnancy and scans/checks very reularly, I developed pre-eclampsia at 31 weeks and was delivered at 37+6, so was delighted to get that far.  However my pre-eclampsia was more severe after the 2nd birth and I was given mag-sulphate drips as they were concerned that my bp was remaining at around 180/120 - 130 after the birth!  But I am here happy and healthy with 2 healthy ds's!  Not planning another though!

Hi, I also had PE with my DS nearly 4 years ago now.  He was delivered at 32 weeks by emergancy section.  I am now nearly 36 weeks pregnant and so far so good (fingers crossed it stays that way).  When I became pregnant I was put on low dose asprin which I am to take through to 36 weeks.  I believe this is due to PE having some relation to the placenta not working efficiently therefore the asprin thins the blood and aids the placenta.  I also have my BP checked more frequently along with general checks for protein etc.  I had my normal 12 and 20 week scans.  Then growth scans at 27, 31 and 35 weeks.  I was due to have another one but baby is growing so well they do not see the point now.  I was told there was a 10-20% chance of it reoccuring but if it did the chances are it would be less server and occur later on.

I have had a few moments when I have had headaches and abdominal pains and ben sent to hospital but all has been fine.  TBH I knew myself that it wasn't PE but still was keen to get it checked out just incase.  I also feel completely different this pregnancy.  I had awful morning sickness up to about 18 wks but other than that I have felt good in myself.  The whole pregnancy last time I didn't feel well at all.

I know the care is different depending on where you live but I would say the best thing to do is talk to your GP as they may want you on asprin early (Iknow some places do).  The other thing is insist that you are monitored more closely.

Sorry have just realised I have written an essay

    Best of luck

I also had severe pre-eclampsia, Kaiya was born at 32 weeks. They told me that it can happen again but less likely as it will be the same father. You'll be monitored from day one when you find out your pregnant and they will try to control the symptoms before they get to bad.
