Hi there, I've just had my HSG done today!!!  My mum & friend had them done before but they didn't tell what it was really like!!  I find normal smear tests difficult to have done & this was much worse for me.  I also forgot to take painkillers before which might have helped a bit!!!  The only thing is, it's painful while you are getting it done (like a really bad cramp - i felt like I was going to be sick) and for a few minutes after but it goes away (thank God), make sure you don't get off the bed until you are ready - you may need 5 minutes just to get yourself right!!!  You will be fine, it's just one of those things we unfort have to do!!!  If only it was easier!!!

hun it lasts no longer than 20 mins and im afraid you kinda need to open your legs ! but collect your dignaty on the way out x

i know it can seem soo dawnting but they needs to do these things to find out whats wrong so they can help you and its more than likely it will come back normal so maybe nothing to worry about xx most people who i have spoken to who have had this done have come back normal !

Hi everyone, I too am venturing into the world of the unknown with the hsg. I've phoned twice so far to book my appointment with no luck either time, they assure me that i will be seen the third time i ring!! However the longer i wait the more nervous i become and as i suffer from panic attacks this is not making me feel better!!! I am dreading another stranger poking around in my bits and telling me to relax!! Is it as bad as i'm expecting? Please advise but not try not to worry me!!!

Sorry, i shouldve said that they found everything was normal with me and no blocked tubes. Also the following day i got my fsh result back and that was 5.7 so all normal there too, so now its just a waiting game.

Hi, Thanks fot the interest. I found the whole thing very nerve wracking!!

Couldnt get off the toilet that am (sorry t.m.i.) as i was sooo nervous and i actually found that when he injected the dye that was very uncomfortable - far worse than any period pains ive ever had but as it only lasted a few seconds it was bearable. I was left with stomach cramps for a few hours and now just keeping my fingers crossed for that illusive BFP.

    How are you getting on?

Hey hun just wondered how you got on with your HSG last week?  I had one of those done in January and like you was worried sick.  I drove in and it was over in about half an hour it wasnt sore as such just a little bit uncomfortable and I took a few pain killers well asprin/paracetamol before I went in too as I was told it was painful.  I went home and done all the things I normally would do.

It is a good way to check if anything is blocked and also if there is it will flush your system out and might help your conceiving.  Hope you got on okay and hope to hear soon how it all went big hugs xx

hun i have just had another one about 2 weeks ago i would recomend taking strong pain killers half hour before your due to be seen !!

im afraid nothing really scares me now !! i had 2 of these over about 4 yrs just collect your dignaty on the way out !!

the person thats doing it i would have felt happier as i knew him/her and would feel safe in there hands !

its natural to be worried and yes i was in major pain after but nothing a good sleep on teh sofa didnt fix !! just get someone else to get you home after xx

    good luck xx

Well, as the title says really, i'm a bit worried cos ive got my HSG booked for friday am.

Has anyone else had this done? Is it painful, uncomfortable??

I'm scared because unfortunately i work in the hospital where im having it done and occasionally work with the radiologist who is performing it and he scares me sometimes!!! Im worried it will hurt and i will be really embarrassed next time i see him.

    Help please
