Hi
Yeh, I know it does feel like the doctors don't really care, you are just another patient to them, my doctor has to be pushed to talk to me at my appointments, he doesn't say a thing! But where I live all fertility treatment is done at a private hospital, which is where I have been referred to for NHS IUI. It's a really nice hospital and so far they have been extra helpful and understanding on the phone to me, so hoping I will be a lot happier once I've had my first appointment there.
At least if you are going private you shouldn't have to wait so long for treatment, it's a bummer you have to pay though. That must be quite exciting ttc for another baby after 17 years! Good on you though, for waiting until you both felt ready for another one again. And at least your son will be old enough to babysit for you!
I hope the 3 months go quickly and you find ut when you can start treatment at your next appointment. I think our appointment at the new hospital will be next month and then it's only about a 3 month wait for IUI/IVF treatment, which is pretty good compared to 2 years in some places! So not long now!
Good luck with ttc naturally

Thanks Hun - I am fine thank you. I am on the dreaded 2ww again - not expecting much from it though, as nothing has happened yet

I sometimes think these consultants don't really care that much, and it's too easy for them to say go away and keep trying and see you in 3 months.
I won't get NHS funded treatment as me and DH already have a 17 year old DS. (Massive age gap I know, but we just feel the time is right again now - had lots of health issues etc)
Oh well, only another 3 months for me to wait LOL!!!
Take care Hunni xxx

Aaah thanks for the good luck hun. How r u doing? When is your next appointment?
I'm just so eager to get started now, I feel like there is no point ttc anymore as it just always brings disappointment. My dp is far too optimistic and just thinks we've been unlucky and is positive that it will happen naturally still! At least he keeps me positive. He is only just facing up to the fact that maybe we do need some help getting pregnant!
I am 26 and my partner is 30, I don't mind you asking. And we are ttc for # 1, so it's all I can think about. Maybe my age is why they didn't push our appointments through so quickly? At your next appointment make sure they go through everything with you then, like all the tests and data they've got so far so that they don't waste another 3 months of your time just for a pointless appointment. Maybe you can asked tobe referred for treatment straight away.
I hope you are doing as well as can be and staying positive. Good luck
and lots of hugs to you too

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I was just wondering as they said for you to carry on ttc for another 3 months..... I am 36 and all the months that go by ain't making me any younger!!!!!!
Are you ttc #1?
I wish you all the
in the world - 2.5 years is a long time.I really hope the IUI works for you Hun

Hi
Sorry you've got to wait so long for your next appointment, but thats good that they haven't found anything wrong. I have been trying for 2.5 years and have been through all the waiting too, so know how frustrating it is for you.
I'm in a similar position, I've had all the blood tests done which came back fine and dp has had his SA done which was also fine. Then I had a scan and a Hycosy (think it's similar to a lap and dye, but no dye, air bubbles instead, i think?!), they were fine too but also said my ovaries were a bit polycystic but I am ovulating so said that shouldn't be a problem. After that they made us try for another 3 months before our next appointment which was pointless and just more questions! Then finally they have referred us to another hospital where we will be starting NHS IUI treatment soon.
Can't wait to get it started, haven't had my first appointment though yet and it's been a year since my first doctors appointment.
Good luck, hope you get a BFP soon X

Hi girls - had my appointment. All consultant done was to arrange CD3 and CD21 bloods for me, arranged DH SA to be done again (he has to do it in clinic this time
) I really feel for him - it must be so much pressure.Consultant also wants me to have another ovarian scan, and a lap and dye. Will get appointments in the post.
Have got our follow up appointment on 11th November.
So, just got to wait another 3 months now

Let's just hope the clomid does the trick for you Hun.
I think from the bloods that I had done before, they said I was ovulating, but it might not happen every month?????
It's true what you say though - surely the GP wouldn't have referred me if they didn't think I would get anywhere.
Thanks for making me feel better about it all xx

my gp did blood tests and sperm test - mine showed a problem dh came back fine but the fertility specialist wanted them done again and once again dh fine and me a problem with progesterone meaning i wasnt oving. also the scan showed the lining on my uterus wasnt very good.
i am now my first month of clomid
I dont think they will send you away - your gp would never of refered you if that was the case

Hi Ladies,
Thank you both for your replies. Looks like the lap and dye is pretty standard then, as you have both been booked to have it done.
DH has already has sperm test done, and the results were fine.
I know from reading the net that blockages in the fallopian tubes are rare, so I suppose they will ask us to ttc naturally a little longer too.
Please keep in touch, and let me know how you both get on - I will do the same.
Thanks again Girls, and
to you both xxxMaz x

Our first appt was very similar to what Bev describes - questions about my cycle, previous pregnancies and outcomes, any infections or operations, medications taking etc. I had already had bloods done by my GP which were all fine. My dh sperm test done via the Gp was a little sub optimal so they arranged for that to be repeated. I was booked for a hsg dye xray test and then to be seen in a follow up appt with results. I had swabs done by a nurse but no ultrasound scan.
Similar situation to yourself - ttc#2 for 15 months at time of appointment. Myself and dh both in early 30's. I think if dh's second sperm test ok then they will advise we try naturally for a little longer.
I hope your appointment goes ok.

Hi i had my first appointment in march
they asked me loads of questions - nothing hard just things like how long your cycle is, how long af last for etc, other pregnancies. They explained that tests would be done on the nhs but any treatment would have to be private as not ttc first child
they did an internal scan to check ovaries and uterus and took swobs
they then gave me forms for different types of blood tests, booked a day that dh was to do a sperm test. Booked me in for the dye scan and remade appointment for 6 weeks after
hope this helps

Bump - anyone?

to be honest i would just remeber to write down all your questions and have your cycles written down to !! then just see how it goes its not as bad as what you think its going to be !

Hi Girls,
I have my first Consultant Gynecologist appointment on 5th August, and really don't know what to expect. (appointment at Birmingham Womens Hospital)
DH and I are both 36, and have one DS who is now 17 (years that is!!!) and have been ttc for 14 months now.
I have already had a scan on my ovaries which revealed a cyst, but they didn't think it was big enough to be causing a problem.
DH had his little swimmers tested - all OK and working well

I would appreciate any experiences/info on what to expect.
Thanks Ladies xx

Hi Hun - been for CD21 blood test today, and got another scan on 5th Sept, so it looks like things are moving pretty quickly now. You never know it may be too late for them to do anything, as they might see a little bean when they do the scan - Oh, who am I kidding - that's just wishful thinking
I am glad you are getting sorted with the new hospital etc, and you really do sound positive about it Hun. I'm glad you are getting the IUI on the NHS - hopefully it will get you that long awaited BFP
LOL about the babysitter bit - that's why we waited so long really (only kidding) DS is looking forward to having a baby brother or sister!!!
Keep in touch Hun xxxx
