Or could they have ivf treatment now and freeze the embryos they create to use later? I don't know ....... just thinking allowed.
I hope she is a mummy soon.

Sorry i meant to say that eggs could be collected as they would in IVF but the freezing process is called vitrification.

It is now possible to freeze eggs - i believe that the Oxford Fertility clinic can freeze immature eggs too. Maybe this wouldn't be suitable for your sister but she could enquire to see if she can freeze her own eggs for future use. Eggs can be collected through a process called vitrification and immature eggs can sometimes be used in IVF through a process called in vitro maturation or IVM.
As i say - your sister's condition may mean that it wouldn't be good to have these treatments. She may want to find out more.

Hi Tizz... I spotted your post and didnt want to read and run. I want to wish your sister all the best.. I myself am in a similar situation where I need eggs donated and IVF... My cancer was different and sent me into Early Menopause.. I am lucky enough to have 2 teenage children but this doesnt stop me from craving another baby.. Which I am doing so badly (craving I mean) ... I hope your sister falls pregnant V soon as she is putting her life at risk and say she does get PG what will happen if the cancer then spreads. He bubba could be left without a mummy.. Soory to sound so harsh hun.... I pray everything will be ok..
Good Luck and pls let us know how she gets on.

Hi,
I'm due in November but am posting on behalf of my sister (who is 31) and was told on Thursday that she has to have her ovaries removed. She has the breast cancer gene and had both breasts removed when she was 29 after a grade 3 tumour was found. She has no kids and desperately wants a family. After the op, chemo, radiotherapy and a double reconstruction we were just thinking that things had finally started to turn around and she's being ttc since Jan. However, her gynaecologist told her that the chances of her getting a secondary cancer were extremely high and that every month she kept her ovaries she was putting her own life at risk and that basically she's a walking timebomb. As you can imagine, she is devastated but will not consider having her ovaries removed as she is so desperate to conceive. The specialists all want her to try ivf with donor eggs and have recommended that she only ttc for another 6 months max.
I know that this is a long shot and that all of you lovely ladies have your own worries but if anyone had any advice or can suggest anything that might help i would be so grateful.
Thank you,
Tizz

Hi ladies,
Just wanted to thank you for your posts. Unfortunately her specialist is really reluctant to use/freeze her eggs as he said it isn't the 'done thing' for people with the cancer gene these days because they try to limit the gene being passed down. Also, she isn't allowed to have any hormone treatment in case it stimulates any cancer cells.
Thank you for taking the time to post and all the best in ttc a special l.o.
