Im so sorry you havent been given the help that you needed about your PCOS. I was diagnosed wth PCOS when i was 12 years old (im now 27) i have lived through every major concern, doctors told me in no way should i try for a baby as i will m/c, i put on and took off 5 stone from my 19th birthday to my 23rd birthday. I have been every size in the book from a slim size 10 to a size 18 and believe me all the GP says is you need to lose weight blah blah blah... i get so annoyed by this. Im mean dont they think i would if i could. Finally after trying fertility treatment for 2 and half years the doctors put me on Metformin (clinical trial) i was advised it was unlikely to work but by this point i was willing to try anything. After 6 months i had lost weight got pregnant and i now have a beautiful bouncing baby boy of 19 weeks today. Also guess what, they took me off the metforemin and tld me i would have to go and see them again if i wanted to try for another baby but that i would be very unlikely to get pregnant again, on the 3rd november i found out im expecting my 2nd baby. Doctors dont know everything chick. Please go in and ask more question and if necessary ask for a second opinion, its your body and your right to ask about things.

I have PCOS as bad as it gets I have every symptom going, and now as a result of having it I have become insulin dependant diabetic and lost a baby (because of having undiagnosed/uncontrolled diabetes).  I have had for about 14 years confirmed, but I have had a lot of the symptoms since I hit puberty and af started, then my probs began.  If you have any questions pm me, and I will be happy to help.

I was referred to hospital after TTC for 2 years but having no periods since coming off depo provera 2 years previous. They scanned me and my ovaries were covered in cysts, I was diagnosed with PCOS. My consultant was lovely and arranged some blood tests, a weird x-ray (cant remember name!) where they inject dye into your tubes to check for blockages and also a semen test for my husband to rule that out! My x-ray and husbands tests came back perfect, my blood tests confirmed the PCOS. It was a series of blood tests done on different days of cycle, to induce a period he gave me Norethisterone so that I would have a cycle to test! By the time we went back for results I had managed to lose a stone ( I have a very high BMI) and he prescribed me Metformin. He gave me a 4 month course of Metformin, my periods returned in a regular cycle within days of starting it and by month 3 I was pregnant. I found it an amazing drug. He had said if it didnt work though we could try Clomid. So there are options, dont be fobbed off!!! I am lucky my consultant was fantastic, dont forget you can always ask for someone else or even a different hospital. I am sure I didnt have PCOS before going on depo for a few years, i never had a single problem before and had regular normal cycle. But, we found a solution thats the important thing. I spent weeks and weeks depressed and crying and fearing I would never have a baby, right now my gorgeous 3 month old daughter is asleep upstairs and I am the happiest mummy ever! your story really made me angry too at the nhs for treating ppl overweight esp with fert problems like this.especially when pcos is prob the main cause for being overweight anyway and so bloody hard to lose the weight aswell.....i could go on and on.

Hi I've had severe pcos (excess hair, weight gain, acne, absent periods) since 1998 when i was 18, I can totally understand how your feeling. LIke yourself I was advised at 18 years old to go on the pill or try for a baby. At that time I wasnt in the position to want a baby, I wanted to live my life, so I went on the pill, but when i split with my ex I came off it. Im now with my fiancee of 5 years and have been trying for 2.5yrs and attending the ACU at Glasgow Royal, but havent really got anywhere with them. They have told me because my BMI is over 35 I cant go on to get any further tests done (could die under anesthetic because im so heavy (im only a size 16-1. Although I have lost nearly 5 stone, its never enough for them, they dont give you any feeling of empathy, its a case of your fat, loose weight then we'll help, I went back after loosing over a stone, and still they wanted more out of me. I now have a bee in my bonnet about the NHS lol,

My advice (being a know it all that i am ha) have you tried  metformin (i took part in the clinical trial for this and did loose weight,) joint a slimming club and do as much exercise as you can ( I do boxercise,aerobics, walking and cycling) you need cardiovascular work outs to burn cals. once you start to loose weight, your peroids do come back, Im now on a 2 monthly cycle, which is better than a 2 yearly? buy the books, read them and try and learn as much as you can about this rotten disease, so that you can go back to your doctor/consultant etc when your pregnant and say two's up, I've done it and you can take the credit for getting yourself there.

I've cried my heart out over the years because of this, its a horrible disease to have and theres days you sit and think why have you got it, its not fair, at the end of the day you can only try to do everything you can to rectify it. Just try and do everything you know is right to help get your symptoms, and you will notice a difference in yourself.

Hi there im gc from past due in nov and 7-12 months , i have pcos too , i was diagnosed at 18 as i had very irregular periods. After lots of scans , internals , meetings with the consultant he offered me ovarian drilling , this is done while you are asleep and they basicly burn off the cysts , after i had this done i went on the pill as i didnt want children then , but i came off when i was 19 when me and parnter of then 3 yrs descided the time was right, it took me 16 months of trying , without any treatment or anything . i had been to the docotr once to maybe book an appointment to see if i need clomid but then things came up and i never got round to going then we bought our first house and wasnt really thinking about babies and 4 weeks after moving in i found out i was expecting the baby we thought we would never have.he is called Brandon and is now 10 months old !  If i was you i would ask them to consider you for ovarian drilling as i wa told by my consultant that you are your most fertile the 1st 6 months after this treatment , it is worth trying. Since Brandon my periods are normal and they say the best treatment for pcos is to have a baby as it clears your system, and it has , we want to try for no2 next year and the doc doesnt seem to think ill have a problem but if i do then i will ask for ovarian drilling again , i hth a bit , pm if you need more info , sorry its long ! x

i am none the wiser, they could only see one ovary as i had too much bowel gas and confirmed i have pcos.My blood test came back fine.

this is what my doctor said. only option is to go on the pill to regulate periods and if ttc then dont use anything wait untill you have been trying a year and then come back if still not concieved.

i asked is there anything i can use to help me lose weight he told me that theres nothing that i can have thats safe while ttc.

i wish id asked so many more questions but my mind was blank.

ive been trying since june and not had a period, but i havent had a normal period for over 2years as i finished depo injection in march.

i dont even know whats caused pcos, i thought if left untreated it can get worse.I researched it alot on the internet and it seems like its only me thats not been offered treatment.
