well went back to be remeasured with mw today and what a total waste of time. as it was my old midwife so straight away its not a fair test as my two measurements have been off two different people.

so measuring 7 weeks bigger according to this midwife but she didnt measure from the top of my pubis more like half way down so im taking the measurement with a pinch of salt. had to laugh at her though she said 'i will be sending you up the hospital i am afraid for them to allow your homebirth' ....as if i need their permission. they dont scan around here for just being larger for dates so that tells you how accurate the whole measuring thing is.

so off to the consultant next tuesday to be told i am measuring big not much we can do about it we arent happy with you having a homebirth (as if they ever are happy with anyone having a homebirth). hopefully i will get the consultant i had last time who thinks fundal measuring is rubbish.

none of my babies have been considered big.

    ds1 = 7lb10 at 9 days late

    ds2 = 8lb3 at 5 days late

    dd1 = 9lb4 at 10 days late

dd2 = 8lb3 induced a week early but going on her weight she was on target to being a similar weight to my 9lb baby. not bad considering they reckoned she was 9lb at 36 weeks going on my fundal measuring. i will make sure i point that out.

ah well i shall be putting on my boxing gloves on incase they start a fight lol

    Hi everyone!

Jen, sorry your midwife doesn't think the sweep will work. They've never worked for me. Hope baby gets out of that back-to-back position!

Lisa, Hi again! How's your little Jude?

Lucy , thanks for the happy due date message! Wouldn't it be great if they came on their due date?!! I'd be surprised if this one did simply coz of being late with previous pregnancies.

Baby seems desperate to get out being so low down but I guess my body's not ready to open the door to the big wide world!

Good luck everyone. Looking forward to reading birth stories soon.

    Hello homebirth ladies

I went for reflexology yesterday, it was lovely, didn't bring on labour but I slept for about 8hrs, so always a bonus.  Been getting pains since Fri now but not amounted to anything and I've had a brown discharge for 3 days (hoping its a bloody show)  I still have 13 days til due date so not convinced anything will happen this week but can always hope.  The good news is my iron levels have crept back up to a healthy 11.2, I totally recommend spatone for those who can't tolerate ferrous sulphate.

Jude - Happy Due Date, hope things happen for you soon !!!!!!!!

Jen - Keep up the acupressure !

Sarah and Rcherry -  it's lovely that you've found the time to find out how us poor eager ladies are getting on,  Hopefully we'll have some lovely birth stories on the hb forum soon

    Hi Ladies!!

I've not posted on here for a long while now, in fact it was at the begining of this thread!! It's good to see it's still going strong!

It is lovely to read all your positive homebirth experiences, it brings it all back to me and makes me so glad i didn't give in to the pressure i was getting from the doctors to go into hospital to have my baby girl.

I have had two fantastic homebirths and am definately convinced that it is something that should be encouraged and supported if it is what the lady wants.

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hello to you all and wish you lots of luck and labour vibes for those waiting!

    Lisa & Jude (16 weeks)

Goodness it is getting busy on here again.

I love it when it is like this on this thread as it gets really exciting. Can't believe I am one of the ones awaiting this time though.

Sarah, I can't believe Katie is almost 4 wks old Still sounds like a milk monster though. That's great Mathew is helping out so much.

Lucy, yes as you know only too well I am trying everything to encourage baby to show up. LOL

Mara, hope all goes well at the mw tomorrow, remember to pop on and let us know how it goes. You haven't long to go now either Are you starting to get excited yet.

Jude, sounds like things are getting very uncomfortable for you. Can't believe how low your baby is. Sounds like it will have to happen soon. Glad the apt. went well.

Rachel, glad you and baby Ben are doing well.

Well I had my sweep today, cervix not terribly low but was a bit soft. Not dilated or effaced though. She managed the sweep, which was fine - not sore at all - but she doesn't think it will work Been gtting loads of tightenings and my back is really sore (has been like this for a few days) but nothing that feels 'real' . Also the little monster has turned back to back, but is partly engaged. I have another sweep booked for next week, if that doesn't work we are looking at possibly inducing me due to my spd. REally hope to go before that.

Sarah, my spd has been really good until today and now I am really struggling again. Think it may have been from opening my legs for the sweep I had even gotten off the crutches, but this evening I am hobbling about again so a bit gutted.

Hoping for some more birth stories to read so lets get these babies out LOL.

Hi everyone. How are you all getting on?

Can't believe it's my due date tomorrow - bet nothing happens though! It's weird as I feel like baby could come at any point but at the same time feel I could still have a long wait due to having Callum so late. If it's just 4 days late like Lucas then I'll be happy!

All was good at my midwife appointment yesterday afternoon. She said she expects to see me in the next couple of days to have baby - but i'm not really taking any notice of that as they come when they're ready don't they?!

Baby has gone beyond engaged and has moved down so low into my pelvis that it's squeeved it's shoulders in there now! That explains the discomfort at the very top of my legs. I took the boys to visit friends today and the 15 min walk back was quite painful at times with the pressure down below.

I wasn't offered a sweep at my appointment yesterday so don't have one booked. I didn't bother asking though as they've never worked for me before.

Hope everyone else is getting on ok and we get our homebirths soon!

    Love Jude x (39+6!!!!)

Hi everyone, i love it when we're approaching due dates, it gets so exciting!!

JudeT, any news today, i had loads of BH in the run up to going into labour, they drove me mad!!

Lu24, glad everything is ok and you can have your hb, sounds like it might not be long for you now.

Jen, how did the sweep go today?, i can't believe you're a week away from your due date, it's flown!! How are you managing with your SPD, hope it's eased slightly like mine did at the end.

Mara, good luck at the mw's tomorrow. When i was pg with ds i had a presentations scan at 36 weeks and they estimated his size would be over 8lbs - he was 6lb 6oz, so they were a tad out with that lol!! I think sometimes they pluck these weoights out of the air, bump size can be down to a huge numbers of factors such as fluid levels and the way baby is lying as well as weight.

Sorry for the bad typing but Katie is having a feed at the mo so it's hard to type one handed!! It's all she's done today! Matthew's in nursery so i was looking forward to having a bit of me time but no such luck as she's not wanted to sleep, just eat! Got her weighed today and she's now 8lbs, bless her Can't believe she'll be 4 weeks on thursday! Matthew is still loving her which is great, he looks at her really lovingly and he's already becoming a protective big brother as when she cries he always goes to see if e can comfort her!!

Rachel, glad to hear you and Ben are doing well. I got pg again when ds was 9 months but don't think i'll be getting pg again so soon, dh has said he doesn't want anymore )

Hi ladies, just checking which of you are still around!  I hope you're all blooming and doing well!  I can't believe that it was only 10 weeks ago that I was here on this thread.  Mara wow only 7 weeks to go!  Looking forward to hearing your birth story!  Measurements aren't always accurate so I wouldn't worry too much!

I want to do it all over again but DH says not til next year

Labour vibes to all of you who are due any day!

morning ladies hope you are all well.

so many of you so close now its so exciting! tons of labour vibes to you all.

i have 7 weeks left yet am off to mw tommorow to get my tummy measured as was measuring 5 weeks bigger two weeks ago and if it has gone up more than 5cm  bigger then she will send me to the hospital as standard. i hope not as thats why they put me off my hb last year saying she was far to big bla bla. im not going to listen to them this time though as she was nowhere near as big as they thought and this baby doesnt feel like it either. i am expecting to have to go see the consultants at some point anyway as mw wasnt too pleased that they just put me onto shared care and havent requested to see me again so i think she will put me forward to be seen at some point anyway. but i am armed so.. lol

hope you all have wonderful labours.

    Hey ladies,

Jen- there is nothing you haven't done to help baby on it's way.  Something is going to have to work

Jude - Can't believe you're almost there, fingers crossed you don't go too far passed your date.

I'm alot happier now that I'm still allowed a hb after my scare this morning.  I posted on DIA about it this morning but basically I went for my morning weewee at 5.10am and noticed blood in my pjs and was there when I wiped so I made a panicked call to the labour ward, they told me to come in and get checked out, was put on monitor and baby was fine.  I was having mild contractions throughout the 30 mins too.  The the doc came and did an internal and saw there was some blood clots which she wanted me to pass before I went home.  I finally did and unfortunately there was some fresh blood that caused them some concern.  After some umming and ahhing they let me go home but had to come back for scan this afternoon.  Scan was fine, placenta out of the way of cervix and the doc has given me the all clear for hb, yay

Jen, hope you are favourable for your sweep too and that it works! I've never had a sweep work unfortunately so don't hold much hope for one doing the trick. I see the midwife at 4pm today so guess she'll suggest a sweep and probably book for being induced. I've been told that they will only let me go 11 days over here but I might argue that if it comes to it as had a natural and normal birth at 13 days over with my first. Hopefully it won't come to that and baby won't be too far off due date.  Feeling quite pained with Braxton Hicks and baby being so low. Also started getting lower back ache but nothing resembling contractions.

Lucy, hope you have held on and that you get your home birth.

Right off for some RLT! (Had curry for dinner yesterday with fresh pineapple and yoghurt for pudding!)

    Good luck everyone waiting!

    Jude (39+5) xx

Hi ladies, just popping in to see how you are all doing. I know I am no longer having a home birth, but I just can't stay away LOL.

Not long for you now Jude, can't believe you are due on Wednesday. Hope you have your baby soon.

Lucy, hope that baby shows up for you soon as well. It is Monday now so baby is welcome to show up anytime now LOL.

I haven't had any real signs, but been trying everything going to encourage baby to come out. I have a sweep booked for tomorrow and would love to be favourable for it, so fingers crossed.

Hope all the new babies are behaving themselves and giving their mums at least a little bit a rest.

Nearly there lu! Are your legs still crossed?!!

I'm now approaching my due date (Wednesday) and hoping I don't go too far over for my homebirth!

Braxton Hicks are giving me real grief and I wish they'd just get on with it and turn into real contractions!

    Good luck!!

    Jude xxx
