    Hi Shelly,

I'm the same as you - Rh-ve and I am GBS +ve.  I can't get too worried about being Rh-ve as it is just a concern about future pregnancies (so long as no antibodies at blood checks) but GBS I've needed to think long and hard about.

I'm pg with number 3 and No2 labour was very swift and no issues (again 2 hours ish)  I had wanted a HB with number 2 but when I got the +ve result I went to hospital and had a great birth experience.  However I always wanted a HB, and falling with a surprise third has given me an opportunity to.

My decision as to labour at home will only be comprimised by:

Rupure of waters for longer than 18hrs - I'll then consider transfering if it hasn't kicked off - If I'm well on my way in labour I'll stay at home.

Temperature in labour above 38oC - I'll transfer for antibiotics

Pre term labour - most health authorities aren't happy with HB before 37 weeks, but the risk of infant death from GBS is higher before 37 weeks and even more before 35 weeks.

IF however I have a swift easy labour, showering the midwife in amniotic fluid as I'm birthing the risks are tiny, and I'll stay at home.

The main reason I stayed in hospital last time was so that they could do 4 hourly checks on DS - they didn't do these and I had to keep reminding them to do them.  I know DH will do them - he's already drawn up a chart to do them on the computer - keep the men busy with important jobs that need charts and he's delighted, lol!

Mainly, have a test done at 37 weeks and see if you are positive that day (as it moves around the body) but it at least gives you an idea if you have it nearing the birth.

    TC and good luck TTC

Not sure on strep either but def not a problem being rh neg!  They took a blood sample from the placenta and some bloods from me!  Got the results the next day!  If necessary they will give you anti d at home!

i am rh neg hun its never been a problem getting a homebirth. unless you show antibodies at a blood test its not a complication. they just bring the antid to your home after the birth and give it you.

not sure on the strep b but as it can come and go on a daily basis in all women i agree with you on insisted on being regularly tested.

    I have a questionshelleycourt

We are ttc #3 - and after ds was born in only 2hours - with no pain relief - I am looking into the poss of a home birth.  But being Rh-neg I'm wondered if I would be advised against it? I'm not bothered about he Group B Strep as I'm going to insist on being swabbed to see if I still have it - plus didn't even have time for antibiotics as ds was to quick! lol

If they advise against it - can you push it to get what you want?? Thanks! xx
