My BP only crept up to your region at 36 weeks.  I had wanted a HB from the beginning & my MW noted it & booked me in regardless at 37 week.  But my BP went too high & I was sent in for betablockers & urine checks every blooming wee.  But I had to be induced in the end due to pre eclampsia and as soon as DS was born my BP came down to normal - literally within minutes!  I suppose it was to be in the end but as I'd had PE during my 1st pregnancy (this was my 3rd) I was calssed as high risk so I was told not to set my heart on it.

So I advice you not to do the same.  Hope for one but do have other options. good luck!

BP was 138/94 so it was quite high I guess. Just feel like my home birth is slipping away from me and there's nothing I can do about it

My blood presure was high and thought I would purchase a blood presure monitor from ebay £15 and monitor it myself. Been doing that for two weeks now and its fine at home. Found out that there is a condition called white coat syndrome thats when your blood pressure is high when you go to the doctors. Gonna take my results with me next time.....

You are only 28 weeks, who is to say your BP will be high when you get to 40 weeks? Also, if you aren't comfortable with your MW/caregiver, that can make your blood pressure increase. What were the actual numbers?

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope your bp is better at your next apt. At least it should be checked properly.

I am with you on being upset at them trying to take the home birth away from you. Having a bad day myself with that. LOL

    Take care,

just had a visit from midwife for my 28wk check. My BP is up again so she was very dismissive about home birth, wouldn't really discuss it at all and basically told me that she was sure I wouldn't want to put my baby at risk by having a home birth

What annoyed me is that she let the student take my BP, she didn't check it and wouldn't redo it after a while to see if it was still high. She wants it checked weekly from now onwards. Everything else is fine, urine is clear, no swelling and baby is happy and healthy etc, I'm measuring spot on for my dates and although baby is currently breech there's plenty time for her to turn.

Student also took blood sample- after several attempts- so now I have a sore arm and massive bruise!

Am hoping the next midwife will be a bit more supportive (todays midwife will be on holiday next time I'm checked), if not I'm going to start digging my heels in and being awkward I think. It annoys me so much that they make out that by wanting a home birth it means I'd be puting my baby at risk!!!!

As soon as she left I rang DH and burst into tears on the phone- surely that isn't good for the baby!?
