Good luck! And I hope baby stays that way. Our little lad adopted a transverse then unstable lie at 39+6 and refused to go head dwon BUT he was 10lbs 7oz and 22 inches long so I have to concede there probably wasn't room for him!!

    Hi,

I had a home appointment with my mw today and she palpated the baby. Glad to say that babe is now head down, very nearly engaged and lying on my left side - yay. Let's hope things stay that way.

I don't think it should cause extra issues, there will still be little space ad preessure no matter wwhere it is.

    Hi,

Thanks for the link. I will give the cycling shorts a miss though!

Another question - Does an anterior placenta (one at the front) have any particular risks associated with ECV? I thought as it is closer to the surface of the skin it might be more at risk from abruption. Any evidence of this? Ideas?

    Hi,

I had a 'presentation' scan the other day as I am planning a homebirth (they are routinely scheduled for homebirthers in this area - not for those intending hospital deliveries). The baby was lying in a transverse position i.e. across my tummy. I had to wait around for hours to finally get a lecture from the consultant on the dangers of cord prolapse, blah, blah, blah. The female consultant then suggested that I stay in hospital for the rest of my pg! Of course, I said "No" for obvious reasons. However, the mw was far more reassuring and opined that the baby would probably turn of it's own accord and if not, they could try ECV.

I would like to know if anyone else has had a transverse baby at this late stage and what happened? Did baby turn? Did you do any exercises to facilitate this? Did you have ECV? Any experience welcome.
