Hi, I had my hb april 07 (on her due date, lol, evening primrose oil, another story).

I woke at 2am with contractions, only mild and not to bad, dozed between them, also weeing (I wee alot in labour) and a little housework (lol, nesting last second).

I woke dh at 4am, we both layed in bed timing ontractions and dozing off. Got up at around 6am, phoned mw at 6:30, she was with us by 7:30, I was already 8cms at that stage.

I kept on my feet the whole time, right up until full dilation, I had my waters broken for me as they were stubbon, lol, dd was in my arms after 2 pushes at 8:52am, just 5mins after second mw arrived and 20mins after waters broken.

I have to add that I ddint nee dnay pain relief as I just went with what my body told me to do, I was so relaxed that eased pain, as did my then 16 month old copying my breathing through contractions, the laughter helped ease pain, so a little tip, try to laugh as much as possible.

Also about the evening primrose oil, I took them in my last month and they are known to stop women going post dates, helped me as dd came along on her due date!!

There is quite alot of info about it online, so if you are intrested then take a look, good luck with it!

any excuse to tell my hb story lol.

my hb was with my 3rd child. i went into early labour around 38 weeks got backache but she was back to back so was expected. at 39 weeks exactly i went to a friends wedding overdid the dancing and came home in pains so called out the midwife she examined me and said i was 4cm dilated and it would probably happen that night (i was relieved as both my boys were overdue babies). mw went home after a few hours as nothing was happening and i was tired so i said i would call if anything else happened.

next morning my normal mw came out to me examined me and said i had gone down to 3cm dilated which was common with 3rd babies apparantly so she gave me a sweep to see if that would help as i was still getting contractions but not much happening. over the next week or so i had them out to me a lot all the time i was going from 3cm-4cm-3cm. by the time i was 9 days overdue they booked me in for induction for 10 days overdue which i have to be honest by then after 3 and a half weeks of latent labour i jumped at.

went to bed on the sunday evening all prepared for being indiced at 9.am the next day i even joked with dh about me going into labour now lol. ..at midnight i got my usual pains i ignored them though as i had had them for so long now by 12.30am they were very strong and i realised they were something 'more' so i woke dh up who laughed until i told him i felt the need to push lmao. he got on the phone to the hospital because at this point i had no idea if i had to go in or if i was still under the hb team or what they said they would send an ambulance because i sounded close and the oncall hb mw just incase.

i got on the bed with my ass elevated just incase as i really did need to push at this point and before long the ambulance arrived along with to their relief and dh the mw. i just remember thinking here i am nightie around my waist two paramedics, a mw and dh looking up my chuff glamorous thing pregnancy and labour eh.

the mw examined me and told paramedics they werent needed i was staying there as i was 7cm dilated and she didnt think it would be long. i got on all fours and asked her for some gas&air to which she assured me i had done the hard part and i didnt need it (later found out she had left it in her car and didnt want to leave me so close lol) she called the other mw and i got on my knees at the side of the bed. everything was packed for hospital so all my hb stuff i had put away so the mw just told dh to get a sheet i remember watching him getting stuff out the airing cupboard and me shouting at him for getting my best sheets out! poor bloke.

next thing i knew i was pushing out my baby without having any pain relief i gave birth to her (she was facing upwards) on my knees at 3.30am (3.5hr labour) they told me it was a girl and i cried then passed her to me through my legs and we had a bit of skin to skin contact. they weighed her 9lb4 i never had any stitches.

then the second mw ran me a bath (the best bath i have ever had) while they all cleaned up and did all the checks on dd. then i got my p.j's on climbed into bed and bf my little girl. the midwives left us at 4.30am and dh got on the phone to p*** all the people who had been ringing us for the last month asking 'is baby here yet?' ...well they wanted to know lol. then dh snuggled up in bed with us and in the morning our boys came in the meet their little sister.

was the most perfect birth can only wish this one is even half as wonderful.

i will tell u mine..... i love telling people... cos it was so cool!! sorry if long lol...

firstly' with my first 2 dd's i had hospital births, and i am not a fan of hospitals however my labours were 6 and 7 hours long and i always coped very well.... untill i got to pushing stage where i decided ''i was too tired'' and ''had no energy'' so both times it took me a few hours to do whats said to be ''the easiest bit''

3rd time round i decided i was going for a home birth simply because i would feel more at ease and relaxed and the plan was to speed up the pushing stage lol...

i felt first labour pains when i went to bed..... forced myself to sleep instead of getting excited and timing them...lol... by the morning i was having them 10mins apart.... stayed very chilled.... did some washing up got kids ready to got to friends and called the midwife at about 11.30.... now contractions were definatly getting closer and had a friend round rubbing my back until my birthing parner (mum) arrived to take over.... (hubby decided to sit out on this birth lol.... hes such a wimp!) mum got to me about 12 and i was folding up washing and hoovering (yes i know....i was trying to keep busy lol) at half past 12 the midwifes arrived and ''checked me'' saying i was 8cm so i stood in the living room did a bit of swaying lol.... i had decided i wanted the baby in there as i had my previous dds squating and couldnt imagine 'lying on the bed!'' they put out the plastic sheets and midfives just basically sat down had a chat and chilled with a brew lol.... whilst wathing neighbours my waters broke and i decided that ''it was hurting a bit more now'' midwife said i didnt need gas and air but i insisted on it and after a breath i pushed it away feeling all confused (transitional stage!!!) turned round quatted down and out pops the head!! i was in so much shock i thought i had hours to go!! within 3 minutes of waters breaking she was out!born at 2.20 hannah was 6.10... and the quickest!!

after was fab, i laid on the sofa and midwife just basically folded up the huge plastic sheet and towels and took it all away!! u'd never have thought id just given birth!! then i had a nice relaxing bath and a big chinese lol ... id recommend 100% and if i ever have any more babies (no plans yet lol) i will def be having another home delivery!
