Hey hun, thanks for the update. Keeping all my appendages crossed (apart from my legs) that things turn out the way you would like them to.

Senior midwife came to check on me today. I'm still on the list for a home birth which is a positive thing, however, today my urine showed +1 for protein and I've developed oedema so things are getting more complicated. She did reassure me that home birth is still an option BUT also went over the risks involved if my symptoms do progress into pre-eclampsia.
She's coming back on Monday to check my BP and urine, she says if urine is clear she is happy to fill out paperwork etc for home birth but that if there is still protein there then she'd strongly advise that I go to hospital and that I'll probably get induced early.
It was good chatting to her, she reassured me that if I do decide on home birth then they can organise staff to cover it, she went through the arrangements for delivery of my pack and gas and air etc and was still fairly positive about the whole thing. i didn't feel like I was being pressurized to opt for hospital delivery but she did go over the risks etc involved in being at home if I do go pre-eclamptic.
Will just have to see what monday brings.
K xx

They cannot make you do anything, do you have any other symptoms or just high bp? Do not feel pressured because they have 5 hb's around the same time, they will simply get agency mw's to cover if they needed to, staffing is not your issue it's theirs & she shouldn't be saying this to you! Look on homebirth.org in the you can't have a hb because section & make an informed choice about whether you still want your hb & stick to your guns! They are simply trying to pressure you over the smallest thing to make their life easier because they are busy which is not on!

I hope it all works out for you - I want a home birth too but as I am 41 weeks tomorrow ans no sign of the little bundle I may not be able to. Midwife says they will let me go for a while longer so here's hoping movement starts soon. LOL x

saw the midwife today and my BP is up. She thinks the consultant will make me deliver in hospital and possibly induce me early if BP stays up.
An added issue is that there are 5 other people booked for home births around my due date, they are going to struggle to cover them all as it is and if my BP is up then I'd be considered higher risk to attend and more likely to need transferred.
The midwife is going to speak to the consultant and see if he'll consider letting me at least start off at the midwife unit, possibly with a threshold set for my BP, on the understanding that if it goes above a certain level I'll transfer. She didn't sound over hopeful though

to be honest hun i was checked over for pre eclampsia with my 1st and 2nd children and even with all the symptoms high bp, protein in urine, seeing spots, headaches and swelling up to my knees i was still left to go overdue with them both with my second they just stuck me in hospital and told me they would check my bp every few hours which they didnt it was more like once every 12 hours.
if they are willing for you to start off at the midwife led unit and transfer if bp is high during labour then you can just as easily stay at home and have your bp monitored and transfer if needed.
if you arent happy with what they are doing then dont go along with itas long as you know symptoms to watch out for and agree to regular monitoring of bp i dont see why you still couldnt have a hb its probably all the messing around that is making your bp high in the first place.
