Thanks for replying deedee24. I would do a bit or research. I know of people who had HB but I'm yet to speak to them. I will give it some thought and can always go to the hospital if I'm not too confident about it.

I don't have a link to the homebirth kit site, i just entered it into the search engine and it brought it up, the kit looked more tailored towards being relaxing for mum not designed to actually help you give birth, I really wouldn't want to advise you to 'go it alone' without a midwife i don't know if some women do but i certainly wouldn't i mean the NHS kit that the midwife dropped in had drips and scissors for the baby's cord etc, all the stuff the MW obv needs to deliver out baby's.

Sorry can't remember everything your post said (pregnancy brain) But you should ask yr MW if it is possible to deliver at home, my maternity unit doesn't have very many on call MW but she never even said it would be a problem, no-one should stop you having a HB if it's what you really want...

The home birth kit is what the midwife needs while she is there to deliver your baby. In some areas they deliver this to your home so they have less to bring on the day.

Hi deedee24. I am also considering homebirth. Do you think a midwife is required onsight? (as a first time home). My hospitalsaid they r short of midwives but I was to do it alone. How to you cut the cord, does your kit comes with a cutting deviceand instruction. Also, it will be great if you can post the link for the homebirth kit site so that I can get one for myself. i just googled a homebirth kit, trust me it doesn't look like the one i just seen the NHS doesn't give you essence burners and all the pretty stuff that those kits seems to. But as long as it helps my baby be born happy safely and healthy i don't care lol...

in the kit i got, a baby resuscitation unit, sheets, my gas and air mouth piece, loads of rubber gloves, guazes, maternity pads. aprons.....a big yellow tub to put the afterbirth in. And my bounty overnight bag was in their which i opened and i got free washing powder, fabric conditioner and a 64 pk of baby wipes and 2 breast pads.

There is plenty more in there but its just pads and plastic sheets. suppose its better to have loads rather then not enough.

what do you get in the homebirth kit?  how much?  sorry ive never heard of these before lol.x.x.x.  bet its realy getting exciting for you now!!

Can't believe there is so much stuff in the kit, i was shocked. I shouldn't be cos this is my 3rd baby and i know that giving birth involves lots of mess just hits home that hopefully in 5 weeks time i'll be holding my baby, She is breech at the moment and MW is checking me out next week to see if she has turned if not she is going to send me for a scan and get a doc to turn her.

Looking forward to adding my own birth story here in the meantime i'll continue to enjoy reading everyone elses.
