Hi Jilly that is a wonderful story and very much like my own. People are alway telling me i'm mad to have home births but this will be number three and i really think they're fab. Heres my HB story- i had a HB with my first DD and all was fine so i planned one with my second. I woke up on the sunday morning feeling normal but still waiting and now being three days late so we went for a walk to try and get things moving. We came back and had something to eat, nothing happened till tea time when my labour started and my BF and DD were very excited- it was the first time for both of them- so the MW was called, i was 2 to3 cm and porgressing well left with her mobile number she left- which was fine by me. I left it as long as i could before we called her back, about an hour, we went upstairs to the bedroom leaving BF and DD downstairs playing board games and having a cuddle. I was told having upstairs for no more than 15-20 mins to call them up, so i shouted for BF and DD and a few mins later after 3 pushes gave birth to my DD number with both BF and DD there. My DD was given a moblie and was the one who told her Nan (my mom) tearfully that she had a baby sister, i had a 3 hour spontanesous birth we were all in bed by 12am, at 6am i woke up made us all tea and toast which all 4 of us ate in bed- YOU CAN'T DO THAT IN HOSPIAL.

WOW SOUNDS GREAT I AM COMING ROUND TO THE IDEA MORE AND MORE, THE THOUGHT OF BEING IN YOUR OWN SURROUNDINGS INSTEAD OF STUCK IN A HOSPITAL ROOM WITH NOTHING ELSE TO THINK ABOUT JUST ISN'T APPEALING TO ME, ALSO MY FIRST BIRTH WAS OK, AND CALL ME PESIMISTIC BUT I DON'T KNOW IF I TRUST THE NHS A SECOND TIME ROUND!
WELL DONE AND CONGRATULATIONS X

just thought i'd let people know how wonderful home births can be! On Thurs 11th september i had a sweep at about 12:30 and thought that nothing would happen - i was 7 days overdue and was booked in to be induced on Tues ( today!!).
I woke up on fri morning to take my other children to school and had a very slight show but still thought nothing of it. As i got in the car to take son had a slight tightening but thought it was yet another BH. Had another as i got out of the car at the school ( about 15 mins later.
Got back home and continues to have pains about every 10 mins apart but were only lasting a short time so didn't think it was labour. Pains got a little stronger so phoned midwife at 11.30. She came round at about 1:30 to check me over and said i was about 4cm dilated and she expected that baby would arrive about dinnertime.
She told me to call her back when contractions got alot stronger. At about 4:30 they were strong enough to take my breath away so midwife came back at about 5.30. My mum collected my children from school so it was all very calm and peaceful.
I moved into the lounge where my waters broke , i then laid on the sofa, started using gas and air was told i was 6 cm dilated and then got urge to push. after just a few strong pushes Owyn James was born at 8:20pm weighing 8lb 12.5oz!!
My 11 year old daughter was there for the whole birth with me and my partner and my mum was upstairs with my 7 year old son who came down minutes later. It was all very calm and i felt in complete control. i had no tears and now 4 days later and i have no pain whatsoever. It was an absolutely fantastic experience!!!

Sweetheart your a woman and a mom to be, we can do amazing things!
