Congratulations, I'm glad you got your home birth and that everything went well for you. The feeling after a home birth is so lovely compared to hospital birth I'm sure its addictive so watch out (my 4th baby is due in Dec lol). Well done.

Hi everyone well I was told on Tuesday that if I hadn't had my baby by Friday morning I would have to deliver in hospital as the midwifes would not be on call anymore.
This had made me feel quite crap as my little boy was 16 days over and I was induced - it was horrible and I so wanted to avoid induction this time. However after two sweeps - on on Tuesday and then on Wednesday things started to happen.
I had my sweep on Wednesday and had a bit of a show and sore back for the rest of the day but nothing major, however on examining me during the sweep the mw said I was 2 cm dilated and my waters were bulging. Went to bed on Wednesday night at midnight and woke up at 2am with a sore lower back and a real need to go to the toilet - however when I went nothing would come out.
I thought to myself maybe this was the start of it and decided to go down stairs to bounce on my ball and watch a film - boy was I not doing any of that! No sooner had I got down stairs when I realised that the contractions were coming on my lower back and lower tummy every five minutes, however although I had to stop what I was doing they didn't take my breath away and I thought I had nothing to worry about. I woke oh up to go to ASDA for more toilet roll as i felt I needed the toilet and we'd ran out. (the weird things you prioritise at the strangest of moments!) While he was going I'd ran a bath and took my phone upstairs with me, I got in the bath and felt they pain was getting worse, so as they were coming every five minutes I thought I'd better phone the hospital for advise.
I contacted the hospital saying they were every 5 minutes but only lasting for 30 seconds or so. But when I was on the phone I had another and the mw said they're lasting more than 30 seconds and since my first labour only lasted 6 hours she said she'd get the oncall mw's out. I'm so glad she did! My oh arrived back from the shop and didn't know what was going on - I told him he'd need to fill the pool as fast as he could.
The first mw arrived at 3am and by half 3 she'd phone for the other mw as I was saying I couldn't do it as the pain was so bad - she'd examined me and said that I was 3-4 cm and I knew I couldn't have went on like that for hours. However when the next mw came at 3.45 I felt I needed to push - the 1st mw said that I was to breath through it but I couldn't anymore so I took gas and air which helped calm me down a bit. I did do a few pushes whereby I pooed which I'm not ashamed to say was such a relief
The contractions changed from really painful to feeling 'pushy' and I knew that I had to push. At 4.15am I started to push which strange as it sounds was such a good (though painful) feeling as I knew the baby wasn't far off. By 4.20am my baby girl was born.I was in a bit of shock at how fast it all happened and amazed that I had done it. We've called our baby Eva, she's 7lbs and half an ounce and beautiful - compared to my little boy who was delivered by forceps, she so content and relaxed.
It was very painful but being able to have my oh with me, go in a bath, have something to eat and go to bed all with my partner with me certainly made up for it - it all happened so fast I didnt get the chance to use my pool but I'm so proud of myself it doesn't matter.
The best and lucky bit was that my little boy slept through the whole thing and got up at 6.50 am wide-eyed to his new baby sister - it was like Xmas for him.
Thank you ladies for all your support and advice re home birth and pregnancy over the last few months and good luck to everyone still waiting.

Thank you everybody and maybe one day I'll be back
