Hiya
I too am carrying monoamniotic twin girls. Im33+4 and had a growth scan today. They are both doing brilliantly and ive been very lucky to sail through this pregnancy with no particular problems. I was told today that twin 2 is engaged so any day now but have another scan in 2 weeks booked in case they dont come early. I will then be given my c-sect date as ive had 2 previous sections. I read up about TTTS and totally worried myself to the point i cried thinking i was going to lose my babies. The hospital will take great care of you and I wish you good luck along with all the other twin mummies!
Take care x

OK I do feel slightly calmer now!
I also had a chat with my midwife who suggested a private consultants who would be able to give me a better scan with much higher detail, so I am going for that on the 21st aug.
Hope everything goes OK for you too... keep me posted!!

Try not to worry yourself hun. I am the same though with worry. Especially how i'll cope etc. If these were my first it would be different, but sine i have DD already i fear that i'm going to struggle to share my time
.It's still not sunk in with me yet and probably won't until my 10wk scan in a couple of weeks. I'm just worried and want to see that both are still okay
I'm sure all will go just fine for you hun. Good luck x

Hiya,
I've had ID twins but they had a dividing membrane which was very fine and hard for my consultant to find at times, i've heard about a lot of people that have been told theres no membrane only to find a few wks later that they have. I used to go on the TAMBA website (www.tamba.org.uk) and there was quite a lot of discussions about it.
As for TTTS, my twins had that, but it was picked up on quick and i had laser surgery a wk later which cured it, had no probs after that and had two healthy bubs by c section at 36 wks. the stuff they can do for twins these days is amazing.
I really hope everything goes well. xx

How far gone are you? I was told at my dating scan that I too where expecting monoamniotic twins as it is too early to see if there is a membrane seperating the babs, it is only when you have your 20 week scan that they can tell if this is the case and if so then both babs have a greater chance of survival. I gave birth on the 18th June 2008 to two id twin boys and was 37 weeks gone which all registrars at the hosp was shocked by as id twins will come a lot sooner and never tend to reach full term.
Try not to worry

I am probably being silly and scaring myself stupid but Beacuse our pregnancy is so rare, (we are expecting monochorionic, monoamnionic twins) I have been looking on the internet for some info, I didn't realise how high risk it is. our pregnancy is 1 in 2400, less than 1% of twins are monochorionic, monoamnionic and apparently the mortality rate in the types of pregnancys are 50%. due to cord entanglement and twin to twin transfer syndrome.
I am really trying to keep up beat about it and I know I will be monitored closely I just really feel like the odds are stacked against us

I am so pleased to everything is going well for you... it does make me feel slightly more optomistic!
Can I ask have your babies ever been entangled in each others cords?
Dd you babies carrie a risk of ttts even though they weren't in seperate amniotic sacs? I read somewhere that its monoamniotic diamniotic twins that were at risk to that.
Thanks in advance!
