Heya, Im expecting mono twins in December so im about 25weeks now, i keep panicing because i read the baby calendars saying average sizes and stuff and to be fair im still small, but ive had no evidence of TTTS and the consultants are rele pleased with their progress. I think TTTS is made sound more scary than it is! so i wouldnt worry too much, if you ask at each scan for them to double check for you most are more than happy! and dont make the same mistake me and my partner did, if your not happy with your scans, speak to a consultant about it, we had a few where we got rushed in and out, they didnt even talk to us and when we got home noticed a fair size difference with the twins! but if you wanna chat about anything as im slightly ahead of you i think, send me a message on here and i'l try help with anything ive been through already that you need any help with

hi kellynemily. check out the other thread about monoamniotic twins, my story is in there, save me writing it twice. as i say in that thread. any concerns, any worries, or any suspitions things are not right go to the hospital as getting it found out quick is the key, the quicker diagnosed the quicker you can get treatment. do not worry your whole pg about it, just listen to your body.

Hi i had mono boys in may at 34+3 with no problems except morniong sickness at the begining, one thing that i recomend you do is push yopur consultant to disscuss the birth at around 28 - 30 wks because mine would not entertain the thought until i was 35wks and told me i would go until 38wks and i went into spontaneous labour at 34wks while my consultant was on holiday. And met another lady whose twins were born on the same day as mine and she was 34wks too and had exactly the same problem.

    Hiya

I too am expecting monochrionic twin girls. Im 34 weeks and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever and consultant is very pleased with the babies. They are currently weighing 4lb8 and 4lb5 so good weights too. The second twin is engaged so have been told any day now but if not have one last scan in 2 weeks time then will be given a date for c- sect as have had two previous sections. The hospital will keep an extra eye on you and you will have regular scans so try not to worry too much. Good luck n take care x

    Hi ya,

Not expecting twins but had mono twins in feb, and in 2000 so thought you might like to know about my experiences?

I've got one success story n one half success story.. the twin pregnancy in 2000 didn't go too well, had TTTS but wasn't picked up on til several wks later, think it developed at around 16/17 wks and i ended up losing one but carried the other til 39 wks and gave birth to a healthy little girl.

My 2nd twin pregnancy turned out the same (which is very rare) but it was picked up on at 17 wks, had laser surgery a wk later (which isn't as bad as it sounds) and had two healthy bubs by c. section at 36 wks.

TTTS only occurs in between 10-20% of mono twin pregnancies and the stuff they can do for twins these days is amazing. As you're already 19+ wks that's a good sign..think severe TTTS is usually picked up on by then.

    Hope everything goes well. xx

    Morning all

Gate crashing from Due in Jan here but wanted to see if anyone else was expecting Monochorionic twins??

We found out at 9weeks that there was 2 in there. I already have a 3 yr old and a 11 month old! So was a huge shock.

I have to have regular Scans because of the risk of TTTS and regular consultant appointments.  Also been told that i will more than likely go to 38 weeks and not full term. All the consultant said was that its a high risk pregnancy cos of the one placenta.

Its all so new to me and even though my sister is a mw i just wanted to see if anyone else is having the same.

Thanks Kelly 19 wks 2day xx
