I just couldn't believe my son today. His dad went to work this morning at 7:30 and was home at 8am....got layed off, the building company he works for had gone into receivership.
We never said much to DS about it, only daddies work had closed so he had come home, he obviously overheard us talking, but to be honest we know we can get through it and get more work...already lined up, and I earn through my business as well.
Walking to school he turned to me and said, "mum, it's my birthday next week, and if I get any money I'll give it to daddy!"...that filled me up as he really meant it.
Then coming home he told me him and his friends spent a whole playtime thinking of new jobs his dad could do and settled on a zookeeper..lol!!
He then said which completely broke me, he was doing his writing and his teacher had to get him a new piece of paper because his got too wet because of his tears for daddy...omg...I just crumbled...
I'd been strong for DP all day, reassuring him, and his colleagues that all ended up at my house that things would be OK and they would find new work etc....
He can be a pain in the bum (DS and DH actually) but my goodness when DS cares, he really cares and shows how sensitive he really is.

Awww that is so nice of our ds. It makes us realise just how much they realise our feeling sometimes.
My 6 yr old dd really helped me out a few months ago when I hurt my leg at work and could bearly walk but my dp had gone away with work. She really looked after me.
Hope your dp and his work mates get sorted soon.
