Well done to your daughter.  Just goes to show that the cliches of children who have sufferered at childbirth do not always have delayed learning.

I fully understand the situation that you cant talk in the playground either and that Bounty is the only outlet.

I found this in the past when I used to ask other parents about their childrens progress and was made to feel I was a nuisance.  Now I am in NZ and complain about the lack of learning my son is doing, I am made to feel like I am a control freak and that its ok that he is no longer doing any academic stuff.  At the end of year 1, my son was at 2As and 3s so I would have liked to see where he would have been at a year on, alas, he is no further on, and if anything has regressed on all the subjects.  he finds schoolwork really boring now, and used to love it.  One friend who I used to discuss my concerns with, now throws it back at me with sarcastic comments like "oh itsnt your son clever" oh your clever son will be able to do this " "what does your clever son think".  I dont feel its a case of him being clever, just capable of doing more than he currently is, as he would be doing in the uk classroom, at the level of work the year 2 children do in the uk.  the level of work in his class now is comparable to reception level.

anyway, once again, be proud of your daughter, this is a fantastic result.

Well done to your lo, you have every right to feel proud.

I know what you mean about not feeling able to verbalise amongst the playground about how well you lo has done. My lad (year 2) got straight 3's which i am so proud of him for, especially as he has aspergers and adhd. My dd (year 1) also was part of a group from her year to also sit the SATS (as part of  their gifted and talented work) and she also got straight 3's and apparently got full marks in her maths sats. Whilst i am fit to burst with pride with the pair of them, i don't feel i can go round telling everybody.

Well done to all the littluns who have had their sats. xxxxx

6 year old DD brought her report home today. She has just done keystage one SATs prior to Junior school in September. She managed 100% attendance this year and has got level 3 in English, maths and science (the highest obtainable). The teacher has also assessed all other subjects at level 3 with the exception of PE which got level 2. Not bad for a child who was expected to be brain damaged due to an obstructed birth.

Unfortunately I can't boast about this in the playground as I know her other friends have made good progress, but nothing outstanding and I don't want to sound like I am judging them as each child has achieved in their own way.

I now worry about what she will do in the new school and how to keep up her enthusiasm. Why can't I be just happy? Why does it always make me find something to fret over?
