I am interested to hear what the GP says. DD was 7 last week and has dark hair. She has had a thick growth of hair on her legs for about 2 years, but over the last 6 months has been pestering me to teach her to shave it off. I have resisted so far, but don't know whether I should  now she is about to go to Junior school.

I had assumed that it was normal, but obviously she is worried about getting teased. I wait with interest to hear what the GP says.

Hi there. My ds is nearly 5 and recently for some reason I've noticed that he has quite hairy arms and legs. I'm not worried at all as me and dh are quite hairy folk lol (poor little mite he has no chance) so wasn't really surprised. He doesn't have hairs anywhere else apart from a bit of a downy back but I think that's very normal too. I really wouldn't be concerned unless he has them anywhere else.

Hi, Just a passing paediatrician!  Is he growing hair anywhere else eg armpits, groin?  Have you noticed any other changes? eg testicular size, temperament.

It is unusual to develop hair this young and if he has any of the other things I mentioned you should see your GP as he may have precocious puberty (although this is rare your description just rang alarm bells).

Don't want to worry you but it's best to get checked out.

I know it is going to sound silly but why not speak to your MIL about when your DH got hairy, or your DH?

My son is 8 almost 9 and not hairy.

If you don't say any thing unless some one makes an issue of it at school I'm sure it won't be a problem.

hi i have a 6 and 3/4 year old son  and  a little while ago i noticed he was growing hairs on his legs the hair are now going thick and dark is this normal for boys to start growing hair this  young .   should i leave it to grow or not , will having hairy legs effect him at school ,

i know he will problerly be a very hairy boy when he grows up as his dadddy is covered in the stuff . but i really did not expect him to start getting hairs yet
