Funnily enough, my daughter used to be like that..except that she would not even eat Beefburgers!! I started giving her spag bol and she liked it, then she used to try whatever was on my plate....(chicken, beef whatever) she is still not 100% but is getting there. It ust takes some patience. I think it was because she never had much as a child, my dad looked after her and she seemed to live off marmite on toast!! good luck!!

He is taking the easy way out. If he has been fed processed easy to eat foods then he will not have learned to chew meat. For kids to be able to chew meat it has to be given from an early age.

I have over come the problem with my grandson by giving mince and then shredded well cooked braised meat cut very fine.

Hi my son was the same in fact once he fell asleep i put him to bed and the next morning i went to wake him and the smell was awful. I looked in his mouth he still had a piece of steak that i cooked him in his mouth, luckily for me he didn't choke, and to be honest even now he isn't the biggest meat eater, i also have a dd like it. Now i also have another dd that is the other way she pesters you all the time for meat, she could chew through a whole steak to herself at 2yrs old, and even at 1 she could manage a few pieces. I wouldn't give him meat other wise you will make him worse. Sharon x

I was exactly the same with beef and the more i chewed it the more I just couldnt swallow. My parents used to tell me to just eat my tea but I just couldnt not that i didnt want to. When i tried to swallon it felt like it was stuck and choking me.

I am still not a keen eater of beef s this memory still is clear in my mind. Chicken i can eat no probs but any meat that is chewy or dry i just steer clear of

I do say not to make a big deal of it aswell otherwise he may remember it too when older

as a child i always found fresh meat more chewy than the processed sausages burgers ect.  if my mum put a slice of beef in front  of me i would chew for hours. maybe he just doesnt like the texture of the meat and he probably does find it chewy. i wouldnt make a big thing out of it you might upset him and put him off eating it all together.

if he eats everything else fine then i wouldn't worry about it and just ignore it the bigger fuss you make the more of a phycological issue it will become

would there be for my four year old to not be abled to swallow meat? he eats everything you put in front of him, including chicken nuggets, sausages etc. put a piece of pork, chicken, beef, lamb, in front of him, cut to bitesize pieces and he will chew and chew, will not swallow. ive just had a massive row eith dp because he decided to cut it int half pea sized pieces for him.he's 4 not 4 months. just wondered if there could be a medical reason when you consider he will eat a piece of sausage, beefburger, nugget, whole!what on earth do i do!!! i cant deal with this argument every single sunday.
