Hi, I too have had trouble with Clarks. I have alswys had my 18 month old sons shoes fitted there. On this occasionI took my son to out local store just before we went on holiday in May because he kept falling over (he was wearing cruisers). I was told that the size he was wearing was adequate and that he did not need another pair. Two days later we went away and whilst we were away I took him to another branch - they measured his feet a whole size larger. I bought the new shoes - no more problems. Once again we were going away in August and it was time to get his feet measured. The lady in my local store told me that my sons right foot was bigger then his left and that he was a 6G, they only had one pair of shoes and as he had jumped a whole size again I decided that there was no other choice but to buy them, i took them home but his left foot kept turning inwards.. I contacted them and was told to bring him back in for a refit. i took him back and they dropped the size to a 5 1/2 G, yet again only one pair of shoes was brought out, they had elastic instead of a strap. I asked this lady why his feet kept turning inwards, she replied that she knew nothing about feet only how to fit shoes. I took the shoes home thinking nothng of it. Got up the next morning, put his shoes on sat him in the pushchair and took my kids to school. I returned to my friends house and took my lo's shoes off he said ouch everytime i touched his foot. When i removed his shoes he had big indents in his feet from where the shoes were too tight. I rang a different branch and I was told that at no pint should any sshoes leave marks on a childs foot. I took him there for a re-fit, the lady was brilliant, she measured him at a 5 1/2H, with a very high instep and his left footbeing bigger than his right. She brought out three shoes to choose from, I paid £2.00 extra to get the right shoes, but it was worth it. I wrote to Clarks head office - they sent a letter of apology with £20 towards the next pair of shoes and sent a copy of my letter to the area manager. Needless to say i will never go back to my local branch again.

I dont get y measure in clarks n buy from M&S like anything else all shops are differnt, a size 14 wud be different in some shops to others, and width too, my ds has h fitting feet so rarely off the shelfers go anywhere near him!
AS for clarks ive only eva had 1 problem in the time ive been buying, and wen ds was about18/24 months ish ( ihave a dd who is 7 too ) i got some shoes, n they didnt have 5/half g, so sed get 6f, so we did, then following day he complained so much about walking! i got cross he was playing up shocking, wen i took his shoes off they had dug into his feet!
A different lady in clarks sed too narrow, actually rather than go up a size, go up a width. n the 5/half h was adream!
but wen they measure ur childs feet it is possible to see where the line is, so know urself by looking wot size they are, i think width is the bit u cant see, ds worn out his size 7's he had since April, and ive had to buy more size 7's last week.

Great service from Clarks, especially replacing both pairs.
I'm a crAp mummy and bought my DS £12 school shoes from M&S!!! (I do get him measured in Clarks though!)

I've foud that clarks shoes have gone downhill pretty drastically.
They do tend to resolve any problems that arise though, but as you say, the shoes should be properly checked. I stick to hush puppies now!
Glad you got a good result!

I had this with Clarks too. Took dd to get shoes and i didnt think they fitted her properly, so asked her to check again which she did and insisted that she was trained and that they were fine. i paid for the shoes and thought, yeah ok she has been trained, i havent
however, still not happy, i decided to take her to another clarks and asked them to check her shoes. the assistant said oh my god who fitte dthese. they were nearly 2 sizes too big!!!!!
Go with your own instinct, you know your kids better than anyone, even trained people it seems!!

That is very unfortunate it happened, but it does happen, usually due to someone unqualified fitting kids shoes. My dd has had several pairs that have needed to go back and they refit and exchange them no problem. I am thankful they do that.

ooooo which ones did you have have got jack some there from the active air range?6/9/08 21:19
Ok so heres the thing
always bought clarks shoes and never had any problems.... (jonny is 4 and half).
he started school last wednesday and by day two complained he feet were sore, when i took his shoes off, I noticed they had actually rubbed his feet raw, and the skin can come away from his little toes. felt inside his shoe and there was a proper lump in that area.
Now as he has to wear black shoes to school , and we didnt want him to be thet only one without the 'right shoes' on (not on his first week), we manged to boot polish his brown shoes black. (which came off in the rain LOL) . so he had black 'ish' shoes for friday.
so I went into see them today....
well I was mega shocked that not only did they replace the school shoes but they actually replaced the shoes i had, had to ruin with black boot polish.....
so OK thats great I know... but surely they should really inspect these shoes before they put them on sale, then all this would be avoided.
so check ya kids shoes well before you buy them, cos apparently they have had a fair few problems like this, in the last few weeks

just been reading through and me and my friend have had trouble with clarks. i took dd 15 months in and got her feet measured as a 3.5 f bought shoes and then went back 8 weeks later her feet were then a 4g actually had some 4g shoes at home! saved myself 26.00. went back to make sure they fitted properly a couple of weeks later and wow her feet were a 3.5f again!!!! luckily i had not chucked away her old shoes and could put them back on her until the 4g fit or not lol.
my friend has 18 month old twins. she got both her girls measured was told both girls had the same size feet and did not have one bigger than the other so bought shoes costing 46.00 went back as she wasnt sure and they were totally wrong one twin had feet a size bigger and both had one foot bigger than the other all she got was an appology!
