i know first hand the problem with only putting one school down, cos i did it.

and didnt get that school even though it was in my catchment area.

and i got allocated the worse school in the city......

luckily i rang the LEA and they gave me a list of alternative schools and he now goes to one of the others in the city. which is much better,

so if you need to list 3 then out 3.

    dont get caught out.

if you have three options, you should use them.   I agree with the poster below - you should check the admisison numbers and where you are in the catchment - a popular school which is oversubscribed could well be rejecting people from within its catchment area so if you're on the edge of the catchment, this could be a problem for you.  If you put down the one school and don't get in, you will have a school chosen for you - likely to be the least popular one around!

we went to the school nursery and were told to just put down the 1 choice , and that it would be ok.

saying that though we are a small catholic school with 2 classes for each year.

    good luck.

i put the 2 nearest down on my form coz i thought you had to. if you fall in the catchment area then you are more than likely to get a place. does the school have a pre school? if so it might be a good idea to put her in there as your chances of getting a school placing there will be higher. hth?

Hi Ladies. Just gatecrashing. I will be joining you when lo goes to school next Sept. We are just in the processes of filling in her forms. There are 3 schools nearby - one has a bad reputation, one we didn't like when we visited and the one we liked best is the school that we fall into the catchment area of. SO my question is do I have to put down more than one choice on the form? Thanks
