Sorry middle of that post is missing! lol - I had another mc in nov and they said they wouldn't do tests until I had a 3rd mc. How can they send you away and tell you to go and have another mc before they will take you seriosuly?

Hi I had a text book pg with ds who was born in oct 05 and thoguht it would be that simple again - how wrong was I!!! Had a mmc in June 07 (got as far as 12 week scan and Anyway I begged and got to see a consultant who put me on higher dose of folic acid (5mg) and also asprin (which is just 75p a packet) hardly going to break the bank and guess what.......... I am now 13 weeeks pg and have had scan and all is okay! So relieved and can't believe that's all it took. One of my friends also had 2 mc and took asprin and now has 2 healthy children. It doesn't harm the baby so why can't they just suggest that to all women? I realise that having tests costs the nhs but 80% of mc are due to blood clotting so asprin helps blood flow in the placenta.

Hi all, I am just 24 weeks pregnant with my 8th pregnancy. I have a 9 year old daughter and over a period of 7 years I have had 6 m/c. First was when my daughter was 2 and due to having a completely problem free first pregnancy was gobsmacked that I had lost it. All my miscarriages have been very early on usually 7-8 weeks. I was diagonosed Lupus positive after the 2nd and have used Fragmin and asprin in each pregnancy since. This is the only time it has worked. This time round I was also visiting a Chinese doctor and having weekly acupuncture sessions since June and also had a dose of Clomid in October and realised at the end of oct I was expecting. I rested for the first 6 weeks and also injected hcg 3 times per week along with the daily asprin and fragmin injections. I was scanned every two weeks til 20 weeks and now have to go for growth scans in week 28, 32 and 36. I stopped the hcg at 15 weeks and will be able to stop the fragmin at 36 weeks. Can't wait for my legs to return to their usual colour as my thighs are multicoloured due to the bruising from the injections. I am having a boy and he is due early July. I never thought I would get to this point and although I still have 16 weeks to go I feel positive that this time is for keeps. Best of Luck to you all.

I had 4 consecutive mcs when I was aged 38 - i had tests but nothing was found to be wrong - it was just a run of bad luck due to my age (I did already have 4 healthy children)
then I fell pg again at 40 - and produced a full term healthy little girl! I saw 2 different consultants - one of them advised me to take aspirin as a safeguard - but I did not do this.
In fact I didnt do anything at all - and thats because we werent trying for a baby after my 4 losses - it was a surprise and I never knew I was pg until I was 10 weeks!! It was the best thing for me - through the early weeks without worry.
I dont think aspirin will harm but it wont save your pg either unless you have a blood clotting disorder (I did try it in one of my failed pgs) Its easily obtainable and cheap at the chemist.
All the best to you this time

hi first of all sorry about your losses i know what ya going through. i my self have lost 4. i have 3 girls, who stopped growing all at aroiund 30 week +. after my 3rd mc my gyne put me on asprin but unfortunatly that didnt work for me and i miscarried agin at 20 week, but baby measures 16 week. i am now currently 19 week and 6 days pregnant and my gyne has put me on baby asprin again and also heprin injections. i am having regular check up and reasurrance scans every week.
i think you will be better off having a word with your gyne about putting you on the heprin injection, i dont know anyone who has lost the baby whilst taking them. at the end of the day its your body and your baby only you can decide what ya wanna use.
hope this helps you. take care jozey

Hi Redwinelover congrats on your BFP!
I have had 2 mc in the last year also. A mmc last Jan followed by erpc and then a natural one in Sept both at 8wks.
I understand how you feel about the aspirin and have had the same debate myself but I think you are right to listen to the advice you have been given. I know it feels like you are risking you babies life by not taking it but self medicating is risky.
I hope everything works out for you and this baby. I have everything crossed for you.

Thanks ladies - I did go back to my GP who promised to ring the Obs & Gynae ward at the local hospital. She did and the registrar came back with a very definite no - so I won't self-medicate (I suppose I could end up doing more harm than good, seeing as in all my labours and mcs I have suffered from excessive bleeding). It's up to nature now - although it won't stop me feeling exceedingly fecked off if I loose this one, making it 3 in a row, and they then put me on aspirin anyway. Oh well - must try and stay positive.

Don't know how much help i can be but i had two m/c last year, first in May at 10wks the second in September at 5wks. I am now 22+5 wks and have had a routine pregnancy so far. I went to the drs when i found out i was pg, kind of expected some advice or an early scan but got nothing and have just continued this pg as i did with my dd. Have just taken the usual vitamins and kept my fingers crossed, asprin was never mentioned.
It is poss to have a successful pg without taking asprin or any other medication but if it makes you feel happier then wld suggest you see your gp again and ask for it to be prescibed.
Good luck

Hiya. I've had 3 mc in past 2 years. First was mmc at 12 week scan, second one natural around 7 weeks and 3rd one mmc picked up at 10 week scan.
My third scan, I paid for a private scan as I had concerns and the NHS were refusing to scan me because I didn't have any bleeding. So after the scan that showed no heartbeat I saw the consultant straight away (private was great!!! just wished I could have afforded to have seen him again) He took my medical history and told me if I was a patient of his, he would have put me on heparin and aspirin regardless - as it does no harm and could do some good!
I then returned to NHS care after seeing this guy where they ran all the tests on me that they do after 3 mc. My results came back to show that there was no medical evidence to suggest why I have had 3 mc and that they had to put it down to bad luck.
I asked about asprin and was told that as my clotting results are normal, this would have no benefit for me whatsoever. The consultant has put me on cyclogest pesseries this time round which is progesterone pesseries to help support pregnancy. Consultant told me there was nothing to suggest that cyclogest would help, but it may do!?! So I'm happy to take it. I had a 9 week scan on Thursday showing a heartbeat, so this is the furthest I have managed to get. My symptoms are much stronger in this pregnancy than they have been previously which I'm finding a comfort, but still trying to keep my feet on the ground until 12 weeks!
Good luck to you x

i had two consec mc and the third pregnancy resulted in my beautiful healthy little girl last may. normally you don't get refered for tests until you have had 3 mc in a row and from what i know aspirin is generally prescribed each time. i managed to get seen after my two mc's (long story how i slipped through the net) but yes i got prescribed baby aspirin for my third pregnancy. ironically my best friend suffered 3 mc's in row, was prescribed aspirin and hey presto a healthy baby girl too. i will definately start taking aspirin as soon as i find out im pregnant next time round. i also researched the internet for info on the success of aspirin and it's sucess rate is huge.

Hi, firstly congrats' on your pregnancy. im sure you'll be fine this time round.
i haven't got an answer to your question - but just wanted to reply as ive had 3 mc's now, 1st before DS was born, in '05, & have just had 2nd mc this year.
im 36 so getting alittle nervous age wise too. I too have heard alot about asperin, & am now gonna go back to my docs & be referred for tests & will ask about this....
as you have a LO already, you know that you're bodies 'capable' of carrying full term, so thats very postive......from the research ive done, alot of woman never find out why they've miscarriaged. Show's that life can be quite cruel......good luck xxx

Hi ladies
As the title suggests I have had two consecutive miscarriages in the last eight months. The first was a MMC at twelve weeks (heartbeat stopped at around 11 wks) and the second was a natural mc at 9 wks. When I had the second mc I had fallen pregnant before first af and I've done the same again now - I'm about 5 weeks.
My question to ladies who have been through similar is are you doing anything different this time around? I spoke to my GP about taking baby aspirin but he said he wouldn't recommend it without a relevant diagnosis. Have any of your own GP's prescribed this for you? Are any of you self medicating? I've done lots of research on the net and it seems as if American Gynae and Obs Consultants prescribe this as a matter of course - even before tests have been carried out. However, this isn't the case in this country. I do have one healthy child (born in 2006) and I am 37 now so I suppose the mcs could be put down to maternal age
I've obviously been taking folic acid for about 11 months and I eat a balanced diet - I'm just wondering what else I can do.
Thanks
K

hiya all, this is my first post in this forum, but just thought i'd say a big good luck and chins up to everyone.
i had 2 mmc, both found at 11 weeks, one died at 5 wks and other at 9wks, and now im 23+5 with what seems to be a healthy little boy. all i can say is listen to your doctors, the last thing they want is for you to haev another and if they say not to take asprin then dont take it, it could cause harm to baby is not needed.
my mum had 6 mc in total she had one after me, then had a healthy boy then had 5 consecutive mc before having 5 children in a row!!!!
good luck everyone xxx
