I think you'll find he doesn't do full tax returns or he has fingers in too many pies!

If you joinly earn over £56000 (I think) per year you wouldn't get any thing.

Ask him straight how much he earns a year or just is it more than that. You could ask him to pay the money into an account for them if he won't sign the papers etc.

    Hi,

Maybe his earings from the other houses and his savings are too high so you'd not get anymore tax credits anyway. It would be odd other wise that he'd rather not claim money that you'd be entitled to.

    Hi

Wonder if anyone can help. This has been going on for a while. Split with my little girls father over 2 years ago...then met another man and we moved in together but when i moved in with him he refused to sign the papers to allow me to claim tax credits. Now im only entitled to the minimum £40 per 4 weeks however i want to save this for my little one for her future...this will amount to around £12k until she is 16.

The reason he has said this is because he doesnt want everyone knowing what he has (i think cause you have to put down earnings from other areas). He has 3 other houses which he rents out and also has savings i suppose...the thing is i dont know as he doesnt discuss his finances with me...is a closed subject. Although i am open and honest about mine.

If i had of known he wasnt going to let me do this before i moved in i think i would have thought twice about it!!!

    Any thoughts from anyone???

    Mellisa
