Thanks everyone, going to gve them a ring and see what they say, dreading it but trying to be positive.

I always like to know what bills i have to pay each month so would rather know up front what csa are after that way can at least plan.

I would deffo give them a ring - under the old scheme, we got a deduction because I was on Maternity Pay and had had our baby. Our payments went from £65 per week down to £35.

Although they have transferred us to new scheme, our payments are staying the same BUT they still want the original amount off us to pay off the arrears - great hey?

How to sting those that are already paying?!?!?!?!? And it makes me bl00dy mad cos its based on lies!!!!!!

A useful organisation if you get no help from CSA is www.nacsa.org.uk - costs £40 for a year's membership and they will take cases up for you.

    Hi,

Ours def went down to nil maintenance on the old system, once I gave up work after the twins. We just asked for a re assessment at the time. This also happened for my friend. I would give them a ring because it does'nt sound right, if your not working then how can they take your wages into account.? Ask for a re-assessment. Jo x

We are on the old system and wish we could change to the new system. According to the website on the New System we would be paying around the £250 mark however on the old system CSA want us to pay just under £600 a month, this is for one child. We also have two children of our own which we were told didn't make any difference on the old system, also I was working at the time... well was getting maternity pay, told them I wouldn't be returning to work and I haven't done (this was 3 years ago) but they have still taken my wages into consideration for our total household income. The new system works out far better for us but they won't transfer us the only person who can do that is DH's ex and she's not going to be doing that when she can get more money out of us on the old system.

    Hi sixpen,

We were transfered to new system too. This was because we had nil maintenance and his ex was advised by CSA to close the case. She had nothing to lose. Wait 13 weeks and re apply to CSA, where we then went on the new system. Clever on her part. We went from nil payments to £250 in a matter of months. Maybe this is why you were changed?

"We have a nil maitenance assessment but contribute what we can direct to the ex."

Do you get a receipt or is it paid through the bank? My hubby used to pay and had no evidence to say that he did therefore it wasnt taken into consideration - and he got arrears!!!! Ex denied recieving these payments.

Has your old case closed? If so, the new system may apply to you.

We have been transferred over to the new system - not sure why!?!?

We had our Lo in August 2007 and remained on the old system. They recalculated our assessment and we were quite happily paying (well, it was better for us than before!) and then last month, they decided that we were on the new system. I have a feeling that Ex has lied and is claiming that she has split with new husband - they also have a child together.

Sorry, I've not been much help

    Hi,

Forgot to say that as the old system takes into account your income, then it should take into account the ex's partner too. but not totally sure on that one. You just never know with the CSA.

    Hi,

We've been on the old system and now on the new. Depends on your income and outgoings. CSA will take into account any children you have living with you, your protected bills, such Mortgage, rent, council tax ect, they will include your income, so they can work out your DH contribution needed to the family home.

This system usually works out fairer than the new as that just takes a percentage of his income. We had nil assesment on the old system but when it got switched to new system, we had to pay £250. That was with 3 children living at home.

    Hope this helps

    Hi everyone

Just wanted a bit of advice.

Have looked on the csa website but it has changed since i last looked and shows no info on assessments worked out on the old system. Hubby has been unemployed for a couple of years due to redundancy and studying. We have a nil maitenance assessment but contribute what we can direct to the ex. We think hubby might have found a job and are waiting to here but i was trying to work out what the csa would say we have to pay, we are on the old system. Can anyone offer any guidence?

Also does the fact the ex has moved in with her partner make any difference to the maintenance?

    Thanks
